Yes, I can pretty much make that claim seeing as how I am only 32 inches tall and play from my wheelchair...here is what I carry in my case.

I play with a Schon LTD 642 with a Predator 314 shaft. I have the original shaft unchalked still in my case. I also have a Gulyassy Sledgehammer that I swear by, 19 ounces. I also flattened my tip somewhat on the break cue and it breaks much better.

In about 6 weeks I hope to have my Whitten 2 butt 3 shaft case that I am having custom made to hold my cues and my numerous cue extenders.

Nice looking get up Shorty. I like my SledgeHammer too. I play with a Scruggs, Phillippi, Bludworth, Kikel, and McDaniels. Break with my Sledge. The Kikel is my favorite.

What type of cue extenders do you use Shorty? Are they custom made? Wood? Plastic? Like the Cue Reach plastic tube I've seen?

I'm just curious about things that are designed for special purposes. How do they attach to the cue? Do they screw into the butt? Slip over the butt or the tip? How do they work?

Hey thanks for asking this!

I have done alot of research and I have three different types and I will tell you my take on each:

1. Extend-a-q, the one that slips over the tip end of your cue and adds about a foot of reach. It is junk, plain and simple. You have to wedge it over your tip and just feels plain awkward. I also suspect it scratches up your ferrule. Also does not seem to line up perfectly with your shaft.

2. Extension in the middle, between the joints. I got one of these from Joe Picone. I have yet to really use this one alot, but I will say this...it's friggin heavy! The nice thing is though that you really get a nice lineup of the shaft and butt. I just find it adds too much weight for only 8 inches of length. I was going to have one made that gave me some more length, but until someone is willing to do it out of some lightweight plastic, I think I will pass.

3. Extension on the butt, I use a Cue Reach. This one is my absolute favorite. Here is why, easy on, easy off. Some guys I know have had problems with it scratching their cue somewhat...I use mine on a Schon LTD and I have had no problems at all. It adds a good 18 inches to my cue for very little weight. To tell you how much I like it, I am having Dan Whitten make me a custom 2/3 case with a special pouch, just for my Cue Reach. That tell you something? And no, they are not paying me for that endorsement. Also, there is a guy out there that has one that fits on the butt via suction. I am a bit leary of it personally in that it is not as long as the cue reach, and I am unsure as to how secure it is once on the cue.

The bottom line to me, the Cue Reach vaccuum cleaner tube looking thingie is the best. Period...and you can quote this midget on that!

Hey thanks Purdman,
I hope to own a McDaniels one day, cause my last name is McDaniel...and I would love to own a Bludworth as well...but realistically, they are both outside my price range. I am a player more than a collector.

I've had a Cue Reach for the last 4 yrs or so and have found it indispensible. It's much easier and more accurate than using the mechanical bridge...imo. I seached for a way to carry it and finally have come up with something.

I bought a Siver Fox semi-hard case and put some hard case tubes in it for my regular cues and then I carry the Cue Reach in there as a short hard tube for a spare cue I carry. So, I have 5 shaft tubes, 2 regular hard tubes for butts and then the Cue Reach for my 3rd cue. It works great!

IN addition the Siver Fox BR-2 has more pocket space than any hard case I"ve ever seen and it's lighter weight...even with the hard case tubes in it. I love to carry "stuff" so the big pockets and lighter weight are right up my alley.

Thanks Shorty for your reply. Frankly I'm surprised that the industry hasn't seen a market for the wheelchair bound player and invented some special equipment for you guys. I can just see the cue that extends in sections, at the push of a button, to be about 8 feet long :) Or the wheelchair that, at the push of a few buttons, raises the seat up to table height or above and maybe even has the seat on an arm that could extend out over the table. I guess then you'd need stabilizer feet to be extended from the chair...much like a cherry picker truck :) :) :p the mind boggles at the entrepenurial (sp?) opportunities.

Hey thanks, I wish I would of thought of that silver fox case idea. Instead I plopped down 5 and a half for a new Whitten which is due in the sometime towards the end of next month. It will be a nice case though I am sure, with my name engraved on it.

Well I already have a powerchair called Permobil Playman Robo that has an elevated seat that goes up and down. Really helps on those bank shots and seeing all the angles on the table. When it is all the way up, it actually does protrude forward somewhat. The base of the chair weighs 235 and I only weigh 85 so it is a pretty stable setup. The chair cost 18k and was made in Sweden.

I also play with my own developed personal bridge. I am planning on patenting it here soon and try to bring it into production. It is the best bridge I have seen and never seen another like it. I been shooting with it since I was 15.

Hope to be playing more soon and thanks for the case idea!

I knew that the case idea was a bit tardy for your uses but it might be a good idea for some others. It sure works good for me.

Sounds like a really cool chair you have! I know I"ve not seen anything like that. I suppose you've seen or used the Just-a-bridge adjustable bridge. It's pretty cool and since they started making it in plastic the price went down from $50 to $25. I"ll be anxious to see what you came up with. I do like purpose built gadgets. It's neat to see intelligence being used for purposes that make like better for others.

Never heard of the "Just-a-bridge" thingie...can't find it on the net even. I use my own, and I am used to it, but always open to new ideas.

Hey thanks, I went ahead and ordered one...so we will see. I already have a bridge dude and those roller bridge thingies...that roller bridge thing does not work very well AT ALL...I tried to get it to work, but it is rather awkward. My bridge works MUCH better...like I said, I am always open to new ideas and I like to try new things, so I will give the Just-a-Bridge a chance.

They used that Justabridge at the Midwest Open. The comments I heard were positive and I sure like mine. But then I fall for most gimmick items :)

You stick a cue into the jaws, pull down on the collar & the cue is locked into the bridge. Then you can twist the cue and this will raise or lower the bridge. It's extremely versatile and in a few situations might win the match for you. If you don't have it with you sure as hell you'll encounter the exact situation where you NEED it and could have won if you'd only had it with you.

Oh no, we may have a small conflict here. I too have developed what I consider to be the greatest bridge. It is just about ready for prime time, so I'll post a picture etc (in the FOR SALE section) this weekend. Funny thing is that I was thinking it would be excellent for you Shorty. I'm not a tall person by any stretch of the imagination (even my own), and the bridge was developed to overcome a problem I have with all other bridges. Hopefully some here will be curious, possibly enough to even buy one :)

Hey sounds great Dave! You see, I am not planning on making a great deal of money with my bridge, I simply want to market it and see what happens. I mainly want to market it towards the wheelchair pool players. I am in a wheelchair and I believe that people take advantage of us enough with the expense of wheelchairs and health care. I remember when I was a kid and my wheelchair needed belts, they were going to be 40 dollars a piece. My friend at an automotive store sold us the EXACT same belts for 4 dollars, for both. See my point? Looking forward to seeing your bridge, and I will be sure to critique it quite fairly.

Hey, I'm 6'5", I can shoot left-handed and I still need the bridge every now and then ! :p Justabridge seems to be working, my friend has one and I might buy something similar in the near future. Send your ideas here as well, every new gadget is worth checking... Especially if I can get rid of using the house bridges which are terrible in some places.

Wonder if we could get a Group Price
