Hello Partner, Moori tips are very good for any game, however, you should be more concerned with the tips hardness more than the type when playing 3 Cushion, Carom, or any other game.

Currently many of the Top 3 Cushion / Carom Billiard players in the world are using Medium layered tips. Some use Moori's, and others use different brands, the one thing that almost every player will agree on is that the tip must be a Medium.

Good Luck

For 3-Cushion Billiards Players, we highly recommend the Tiger (Soft) Laminated Cue Tip.

Tiger Laminated Cue Tips are the preferred tip of 2006 US National Champion Mazin Shooni. :D

I agree with the soft tip. Carom shots sometimes call for a lot of spin to be used. A soft tip will minimize the chance of a miscue. Be sure to keep the tip roughed up. My preferance is for a good solid 20oz stiff one piece cue with a pro taper, 13mm soft tip, and a leather grip. Sounds old fashioned but I feel that a one piece cue will give you more feel and more solid hits. One piece cues are a little inconvieniant to transport and need a little more care, you can't replace the shaft. If the cue is wraped with plastic when not in use to keep the humidity away it will last a long time without warping.

Below is the answer for many of the best players in the USA.

PEARLS FROM THE 2007 USBA 3-CUSHION NATIONALS

Assigned to canvas this year's Nationals finalists by my billiard buddy and 3-cushion mentor, Bob Tracy, a 5 time Nationals qualifier, 1968 -1972. Each finalist was observed to see whether they used a glove or not. Each was asked what cue tip they liked. Here are the results in the order of each finalist's finish:

1. PEDRO PIEDRABUENA
a. No glove
b. Moori soft tip, 12 mm, but " . . . may have worn down to 11.9 by now."

2. MAZIN SHOONI
a. Uses a glove
b. Sponsored by Tiger, he uses a Tiger 12.2mm layered tip made to his specification.

3. HUGO PATIÑO
a. Uses a glove
b. Uses a " . . . cheap 50 cent Triangle (Master)", medium hard tip. 12mm.

4. MIGUEL TORRES
a. No glove
b. Moori hard tip, 12 mm.

5. SALVADOR DIAZ
a. No glove
b. Moori hardest tip, 12 mm

6. CARLOS PALAFOX
a. Uses a glove
b. Moori hard tip. 12 mm " . . . because of his shaft."

7. MICHAEL KANG
a. No glove
b. Moori medium hard tip. 12 - 12.5 mm. " . . . but using a hard tip makes me miscue."

8. YOUNG GULL LEE
a. No glove
b. Moori medium hard tip. Uses an 11 mm, but prefers a 12 mm

9. GEORGE ASHBY
a. Uses a glove
b. "Uses whatever is around, 9 to 11.3 mm." Doesn't like layered tips. Likes the Moori tip because he " . . . can feel the hit."

10. VIRGILIO "VICKY" PINEDA
a. Uses a glove
b. Moori medium hard tip. 12.5 - 13 mm.

11. JOSE COSTA
a. Uses a glove
b. Uses " . . . whatever tip Mazin Shooni (his mentor) puts on" his shaft. Thinks his tip is a Moori soft 12.5 mm tip.

12. FELIPE "PEPE" RAZON
a. Uses a glove
b. Lepro hard tip. 12 - 13 mm. ". . . varies with the shaft."
"Lepro has only one hardness." Doesn't like Moori tips.

Billiard Buddies,

About 25 years ago my friend Harry Sims introduced me to Triangle cue tips. On the box it shows Master quality and the name Tweeten. On the bottom of the box it has a sticker " Imported Chrome Leather Tweeten.

These tips are Hard and never spread. They hold chalk very well. They are quite long lived. I have never used any thing else over the past 25 years.

Depending on how you buy them they are about $1.00 each.

Best wishes

Darrell Paul Martineau

thanks

thanks for the input everyone. sorry i didn´t reply earlier but I have been busy (I sometimes hate school  ). keep those sugestions coming becuase I need to change the tip of my carom cue ( thinking of a moori or a talisman) as it keeps mushroming really quickly.

thanks FJC

Just put on a Sniper about 10 days ago and no mushrooming yet. Plays very well. I've never tried a Tallisman but the Moori's WILL mushroom.

I has some success with Moori by having it slightly tapered and slightly
cut down when installed. But it still mushroomed some.
