What To Do With This Shot?

ok, last night when i was breaking racks i ended up 3-4 times with this shot on the '1' ball. very, very thin cut into the corner. so thin that perhaps you would have to let the cue ball go and just hope for a shot on the '2'.

what do you top-notch players out there do with this shot? do you try and cut it in? play safe? lose the cue ball, and feel confident you can at least play a safe on the '2'?

and is there a trick to cutting this shot in?

works fine for me when i Paste it in?
the '1' ball is cut into the closest corner pocket, and the cue ball is near the middle, about a foot in front of the '5' ball here.

id try to play safe...cut thin the one toward the top of the table bringing the cue 2 rails on the other side of the 5....that would be the plan at least:)
 
I might play safe here - if you hit it thick, the 3's right there...and if you hit it thin, the 9's at the other end. The speed with which you need to hit it to make position for the 2 means that if you screw it up, the other guys probably out..

Hit one pretty full in the face, but on the left side slightly. Hit whitey with left english and put it two rails behind the 3-7 and put the 1 on the other end of the table.
 
Am I not seeing something? It looks to me that if you cut the 1 to the corner you should have natural shape to go 2 rails with the CB to shoot the two in the top corner.

The cue ball isn't showing up for some dumb reason, it happend to me once before also. It looks like the supergreen guy has the answer. My only other suggestion would possibly going two rails top to the left side rail to the middle of the table, bank the 2 cross side then 3 to the corner.

Place the B where you break from. Draw lines showing the path that the one took from "A" to where it ended up at. Also show the cue ball path. If you are leaving yourself this shape often, it may be easier to alter your break, than to always trying safes, pushes or flyers.

Play safe putting the cueball behind the 8, unless you know you can make the 1 and like the 2-6 combo.

I'd most likely go for it. It's natural position for the 2 ball. Though the 2 to the 3 to the 5 is no easy matter. But still looks worth a try to me.

If you miss the 1 ball, your opponent will likely have a tough shot to get on the 2 ball anyway.

With a little left the cueball ends up in B while the 1-ball ends up in A. That makes for a real tough shot to follow.

The reason why the unkownpro is right is because by sending the one to the other end of the table you can run out if the opponent fails to contact the one ball.

On my table it would be near impossible to stop for the 2 while making the 1. I have very fast rails and 4" pockets. You'd have to lag it so slowly that you can't be sure to make it, only sure it'll be close to the hole. I would play to hit the 2 or play a combo or bank. But it's a very easy safe. I shoot at damn near everything in matches - if I know I can get postition. I try to play safe only when it's a pretty sure thing, and this is.

DCP is trying to learn to run out at a high percentage. He needs to practice makeable outs instead of beating his head against the wall in racks that are tough for very good players. Playing 11 or 12 ball you figure to have to make a breakout or combo (or both) every game, and that's a good chance to get out. In 9-ball it's not, least not with my rails.

DCP, why don't you take ball in hand when you practice? I do. The break and the layout after the break depends far more on the rack than the breaker. Even when mastered at home, it won't be the same anywhere else. Do you kill the 9-ball ghost so bad that you can't stand to play it with ball in hand?
