What to use before burnishing a tip

I just changed a tip and getting ready to burnish the sides. I’ve used skin oils and saliva but I’m wondering if there is something better. I’m looking around the bench and see my jar of Renaissance wax. Has anyone tried that on the sides before burnishing.

Renaissance works fine, beeswax is better though

No special liquid or wax is important. It can be a wet thumb after playing. The important part is that you work a cloth or paper towel around the tip, spinning it as you go. Keep compressing the sides of the tip, no need for beeswax, or any other kind of wax. Just keep working that tip with cloth or paper towel after playing.

All the best,

I've been using this stuff. Haven't had any issues. I originally got it for the tips, but then I started using it on the shaft too. I was having issues with the grain raising, I assume from the high humidity here. Since I started using it I don't have to burnish the shaft much anymore.
