what was the most amazing shot you have ever made

nothing amazing

here a few shots I have made...not anything great I just like them personally...

this one was not for the run out because the kid I was playing was just learning...but his eyes kind of lit up because my words were, "ehh for fun lets call it here." ran right down the rail as it was frozen no bumps nothing.

not exactly how the table was set up but I couldnt see the 8.

another shot... my friend was making me set this up and shoot it. felt good when it went in.

this shot was in a local tournament unfortunately I didnt get out because I went to come through on my final stroke on the 11 ball my cell phone rang and my whole body reacted like it got shocked but I played the 10 in the side came around made the 3 ball so I could play the 8 in the same pocket. I was so angry.

Here are a few of mine.

Made this one in a money 8 ball game at the bar. The dude scratched, but playing bar rules i had to shoot behind the line to win the game.

Another one from an 8 ball bar game. I sunk my last ball and my opponent called Bank 8. It was a $5 game, and i had already beaten him a few games already, so i said OK!!

I cant remember the exact ball positions, but the bank side was a double kiss and the side pocket was in the way for a corner bank. He may have had a ball or 2 on the table. Needless to say, he quit.

This one was at a girlfriends grandparents house, just after we started going out. She had bragged me up, and i wasnt that great a player at the time, if i was i prolly would have chose a different shot. I called it exactly. I can't remember where all the balls were, as it was about 5 years ago, but this is the shot. The balls in the shot are in exact position.

This one just sticks in my memory because it was my first game of my first match in a big tournament against an A+ player. I ended up losing the match hill-hill by missing the 9. I ran out the rack off my own break after this shot. Nothing amazing but this shot has always stuck in my mind. I only remember where the 1, 2 and 3 were.

I remember thinking that if i missed the 1 would have gotten fairly safe with the 1 coming back behind the other balls.

Sorry, I have a bandaid on my forfinger and I can't move the pointer too well.

Yes, the 8-ball is going into the side pocket and by putting low outside draw on the CB it will spin towards the left short rail after it contacts the long rail.

Not a shot that comes up often, but worthwhile to know it when it does.

Barbara

Hi-Barbara, I was practicing today and that shot came up and I tried it and it worked like a charm. for some reason I said let me give it a try and I put the reverse english and brought it back down table even with that angle ,I was a bit hesitant but I said I'll give it a go. :)

I was playing in our city league team 8 ball tournament when I broke and ran down to my last two balls without getting very good shape on either ball. After looking at it for a couple of minutes I came up with this shot.

Funny thing how the cue ball came back out to almost the same position and of course the 14 ball stopped where the 13 was. I decided to try coming off the rail again with the cue ball and to my surprise I made this shot too. After making the 8 ball players I didn't even know that saw the shots were shaking my hand and telling me it was two great shots in a row.

Without question, the toughest shot I ever made was the five in the corner back in the autumn of 1970. The shot itself was actually almost straight, but it was 49 - 49 in a straight pool race to 50 against my father, and I was a twelve year old that hadn't beaten dad yet. I remember how nervous I was like it was yesterday. Believe me, I used the whole pocket on that one, but the ball dropped to secure the 50 - 49 win, a very fond memory from my childhood.

This shot is from another tread. The object ball is frozen between the 1st and 2nd diamonds. The cue ball is on the spot. Here's a diagram of the shot:

)END
If you'd like to see it on video, it's called "super draw shot"

Some people have commented that this is rather easy. I found it rather satisfying when accomplished. Especially on slow crappy cloth.

Its a double Jumper. The cueball jumps about a foot to a foot and a half over the first ball, lands in between 2 obstructing balls, then bounces over the second ball, to hit the OB after clearing 2 balls on 2 seperate bounces. I stopped the cueball dead too, it was one in a million.

This is a game of 9-ball,i was playing with a pro and he was pretty clever to make me shoot a ball with no choice but to bank it.But one thing is that im not good in banking,so what i did was this :

He was so amazed after looking at my shot. And he asked me, "how did u do that".

Lol imagine a pro asking a 14 year old boy on how to do a shot.

I was playing Bank Pool vs. my friend Brady. I called this kick-two-rail-bank shot into the side pocket.

It was lucky, but I called it!

I know this is not that hard, but it was shocking on the guy I was playing 9-ball with just a few days ago. He safetied the cue ball to the eight and there was about a 1/3 of an inch space. I looked at it and decided to air bridge it. High Center hit on the cue ball with my bridge in the air to help avoid the double hit. He was down on it watching and listening to it. The eight went in fine and the cue ball rolled ever so nicely down very close to where the arrow ended up in the pic.

Thanks Bert Kinister! It is amazing when you learn something new, how it seems to come up fairly soon in real life. It is probably because it is a fresh option in your head and you want an excuse to try it. :)

Best Shot Called & Made

Club Handicap APA 8-ball Finals. Maybe 30 or 40 people watching. I'm a SL5. I'd beaten a SL5 in the quarters, and a SL6 in the semis. Playing another 5 in the Finals, so its a 4-4 race. I was down 3-0, but came back to hill-hill. I left my opponent hooked pretty good as depicted, and figured to get ball-in-hand and run out easy for the championship, or even if he managed to hit the 8 with my 6 ball in the middle of the table, I'd be in good shape from almost anywhere. He made this long kick, and I still get nightmares...

When I called it, he offered to bet me $20 I wouldn't make it. I didn't like my chances, so I turned him down. Dammit.

After I posted the last one, I remember playing a guy 8-ball last pocket about 3 months ago after league play was over. The story is as fun as the shot I think. Now, I'm a fun and happy person and usually make people smile. Why he wanted to play me so bad and had it out for me, is beyond me. After he lost the first 2 games, he wanted a last game at double or nothing.

So he has the side pocket (I basically forced him to take the side pocket ;) ) where the 8 is at. He rattled it from a three rails in the side bank. But then he starts laughing at the predicament I was in. The arrows show you where my pocket was. I knew it was a wing and a prayer, but I figured if it didn't go, I should be pretty safe. I shot this with center ball and just a tiny touch of left. The cue ball stopped hooked on the corner of the side pocket, but the 8 came off the point spinning like mad and went in. I can shoot this shot pretty well now. Maybe 15% making the ball, but safe about 80% of the time.

The funny part of all of this is, right after I saw the object ball spin off the bottom rail, I started walking over and grabbed the jellybeans. When the ball fell everyone got excited and he said loudly over the rails, "Even God couldn't make that shot." He was still sounding like he had it out for me.

I was undoing my cue with my back to him and looked over my shoulder and said, "Well, that all depends on who you worship, now doesn't." Everyone laughed and even he chuckled and came over to shake my hand and said, "nice game." And here, I thought that guy was never gonna smile.

I only needed 1 ball on a playoff APA league match, I was left with this. Nothing to fancy, but it was great to win that match on a cool money ball draw shot.

I think i learned it from the "99 Big Pool Shots" book, but i actually used it in a match one time.

It's the one where the 9 ball is resting on the short rail. the cue ball is resting on the far edge of the long rail. and there's a blocking ball in between so you cant get a good look at the nine. instead you shoot the cueball into the tip of the pocket by the nine, it hits the other tip, and shots off down the short rail, perpendicular to the line of the original shot, and makes the nineball.

the other guy almost had a heart attack. so did i! :)

I've used that on foot rail, but never tried it down the long rail in a game. :)
