What we need is something different to watch

Celebrity Billiards

Need a big personality host that is a great pool player.

Each week current Celebs come to the Pool Room to Shot Pool and the Bull with the host.

It will need to be edited so that the pace and timing is good.

Many multiple camera angles and overlaying graphics showing the shots during play just like the NFL.
Good sound is a must.

Suggestions for shots from the host when beginners are playing and trash talk and serious play with Celebs who can play.

A short pool lesson at the commercial breaks and a Trick Shot at the end.

very happy watching boring shit, boring slow and long,

when i seek crowds of hooting idiots, i go to slick willies

For a Live Stream Show....

Multiple camera angles.
At least 12 will be needed.
4 Corners
2 Ends
2 Sides
1 Overhead
2 Wide Shot Establishments
1-2 Shoulder Held

Players and the table need to be miked for realistic sound quality.

Overlay graphics showing the Shot Pattern before the Shot.
Just like in NFL games where the 10 yard line is superimposed on the field.

Good lighting but with a Old Time Pool Room Atmoshere Feel.

Need chatter, conversation or trash talk from the players.

I would love to have a permenant setup where this could be done with control and repeatability.

Let me explain what I mean

pool tournaments are not really fun to watch

Ronnie O Sullivan is fun to watch

I once played Harry Platis in the practice room at a big Reno world championship
over 600 people crowded the table to watch

About 6 people watched the finals of the world championship

every great player watch a couple of non players play for bigger money

What I am wanting to do on Live stream is bring some exciting matches ,combined with
good educational commentary,,with insights and conversations that are windows to the
soul of the pool culture

players with big handicaps,or bring in poker players, guys with more than
a little gamble

its not necessary to be a gambler to enjoy action

The movie is awful but the highest ranked show in the history of television
was Bobby Riggs vs Billy Jean King back in the 70s

Are any of you guys connecting with me,I am open to ideas

I bought a table with the idea of promoting some action, educational entertaining
pool games.

does anyone care about this or are you happy with these borefast things we
have

For commentators, a pro pool player like JJ that is not boring or annoying. Then you need just an interesting commentator who isn’t necessarily a pool player, but is a great commentator. Think Joe Rogan. Hell, for action match commentary, get Keith out there and just let him talk. People will tune in just to hear what he has to say. Don’t censor him, just let him go.

As far as matchups, you’ll need them to be at least decent. Even if they are playing for big cash, no one is going to watch guys drive balls into the rails all night.

You also need players who have some personality who don’t sit in a chair staring at the table.

Good luck with finding people that have enough gamble to play when they aren’t flat out stealing(or at least think they are). Unless an outside sponsor is putting up the cash, you’re going to need to do a lot of matchmaking before hand and having signed agreements and posted cash prior to the match. Otherwise someone will screw thus up by backing out or wanting to change the game at the last minute.

In poker you can get away with someone who has a big personality and a ton of cash playing without must skill. The variance(some call it luck) allows them to somewhat stay afloat or at least not look like they are getting destroyed.

Unfortunately with pool, not matter how much you talk or how much cash you have, if you can’t make a ball, it’s glaringly obvious and you’ll never win anything.

mch sounds like some ideas ,could be fun

va..your ideas are not what i have experienced
i can not play good, yet i won more than most anyone
from time to time

when dippy was paying, there was more interest in his playing
than in all the pro players put together

i personally like billy incardone as a commentator, also
if the room is filled with gamblers even today i would
not be surprised to see him get the money

that is if the players matched up,if billy played jj and got the
break and a ball or two, that might be interesting
i am not saying that would be the way they played,
he might need more

let them match up,then let us join in

perhaps give players a shot at running 500
with break and ball in hand to start, put a big prize and
a reasonable entry fee

i don't know of any celebrity who plays that good
but to me it wouldn't matter how they played

if we kick it around maybe we could come up with something

maybe set a $10,000 minimum entry to get involved
match up and win play again, move to the next round
buy back

no brokes invited, the only qualification is bring the money, match up and play

a fella only wants too much the best of it,in other words
if he doesn't match up with anyone in certain time

hes out

players can play where they want,we stream the action

i don't really have a clear idea
and perhaps az doesn't have the type of guys to
want this

it was a saying in days gone by
get a bunch of poker players together
they play poker

get a bunch of golfers
they play golf with the poker players

get a bunch of pool player
and they knock each other or scheme

i am not sure if it is still this way or not

Tennis match drew 90 million viewers, while the last super bowl had 111 million. Soccer championship drew over 3 billion viewers.

...3 billion viewers, that's a lot, the ad rate on something like that would be very, very high
under traditional models, isn't it like 30m a minute for a super bowl ad? plus
production. that would put soccer easily at 100m a minute, would never of thought soccer would draw that kind of cash.

All the players, from what I can tell, are all free-lance,
the streams seem to be as much an organizer as any,
so..., Dean with tables, nice tables, a black book of characters to shoot the next chapter
with a current IT Stream Infrastructure, toss in that golden touch, a style more professional than reality...
uum don't know, it's a plan.

...what also would be great, on the rare occasion of an 8Ball match up - - - u no, the game where
all the pockets are in play combined with the HD high quality stream to match the table scene, the
8Ball Bingo call could be made for all of these gamers on the side,
the billiard version of fantasy football, having a vested interest in what ball is pocketed where. stay tuned...

...umm. guess not

Depends on your audience. If you’re just looking to give pool fans something different, they might want to watch lesser skilled players because of the stakes being played.

If you’re looking to draw new viewers outside of pool, possibly not.

Also have to keep in mind, how often do sets for big money come up? I’d watch lesser players playing for a lot of cash if it was something you don’t see normally. But, if the same guys were playing every weekend, I’d lose interest. Would that happen with this idea, lots of people tune in for the first few times, and then go back to watching top pros play? I don’t know.

I’m not suggesting what I’m saying will be the way, just posing questions that should be thought about.

Also, good analogy on pool. That’s one of the reasons I left pool and took up poker full time.

Playing pool with the stars

Like dancing with the stars but with pool. Team a celebrity up with a pro and they play a season together.

different now

You are right about the action matches create the most interest. At the
Cotton Bowling Palace, when big time bookmaker Bobby Chapman played there
were so many people in the pool area that Vernon Litton would have to push
them back so the players could shoot. Bobby couldn't run 3 balls but matched
up with whoever would bet high. Ty brought in world beaters to play him.
The thing that made the action so contagious was all the rail action. He would
bet everyone in the place, as high a you wanted. He would give someome
a $100 to rack for him, tip the waitress a $100 every time they brought him
a drink, this was in the 60's. The matches that created the most interest
were not the best players but the highrollers, interacting with the rail or
the spectators betting on the matches among themselves. Dean when we
were young pool rooms were for gambling. Almost everyone in the place
was there to gamble. It drew every kind of gambler and highroller, not just
pool players. but Bookmakers, card players, golf hustlers, heisters, drug
dealers, etc. Look at the videos from the Philippines, and you get an idea
how it was. It takes 5 or 10 minutes between games to get all the bets
down. I would love to see it that way again but I think those times are
gone and we have to try to enjoy what we have. I tell these stories to
my grandson, and he just looks at me like I'm crazy, and tells me he just
killed 50 Zombies on the game he's playing.

Someone hit up Joe Rogan.
He likes to shoot some, and his commentary is gold. Lol.

That show, The Hustlers, seemed like a good attempt
to bring pool back into mainstream media.

It's just crazy to know Snooker is so huge in the UK,
but pool in the U.S. doesn't have the same appeal.

Those were the days. I lived in Arlington during those days, we were at the Cotton Bowling Palace just about every weekend. I saw Detroit Whitey match up with Bobby Chapman for $25 K... Whitey played some warm up games with a kid in our group & got beat 2 games. Whitey looked like he was playing One Pocket & Craig was playing 8 Ball. There was Little Al, Big Al, Teddy Copeland & more

Joe Rogan as the Host and Play by play
Incardona as the analyst

Idea 1

Each week two celebrities play scotch or regular doubles paired up with two pros...could be male or female.
The winner gets the cash...for the charity of their choice. Think celebrity Jeopardy....and advances in the tournament to an end of season championship.

Idea 2

Take 16 amateur pool players. and 2 professional players to act as coaches/captains
Put the 16 players up in a mansion in vegas with free food and more importantly unlimited alcohol.

Each team of 8 gets a 4 hours to practice/ learn from their coach. The next day, each coach puts up one of his players against the other coach's. Winner gets to control the next weeks pick as well as what game is played. Last man standing wins whatever cash the sponsors put up.

This idea is a direct rip off of The Ultimate Fighter...but I would watch!

Exactly! Good idea there
