He or she gets down on the shot, takes a few practice strokes and then is about to hit the cueball, when suddenly a drunken customer trips over some obstruction nearby and bumps into your opponents cue. That causes him to miss the 9ball badly. Your opponent had no way of knowing someone was walking by, and the bump obviously caused him to mess up the shot.
