what would you do?

Buying new cue

If you had 800 to spend on a cue or cues, what would you buy...I have a lucasi but no break/jump yet

For that kind of money you can buy a custom made from lots of great cue makers. Even less if you get a really planejane cue. Total custom, everything to your specs. Why buy a production cue when you can have everything your way. The big thing for production cues is you get it now! Customs usually take several months. Some custom guys have some cues ready to go, but you didn't design it. It doesn't have to be your dream cue, that can come later. Design and build your own. A good custom guy will also help you make the technical decisions. It's a free education on cues.

I agree on the custom route and with that much money you should be able to pick up a nice player and a nice J/B in the For Sale thread. There should be some nice J/B's for $200 - $300 and you can pick up a nice custom player with the remaining $500 - $600.

You just need to decide what type of hit you want, and any particulars in the wrap, weight, etc. There are plenty of choices for sale right now, and with the economy you can get some good deals out there too.

Since you are new here, let me give you some friendly advice about the FS thread. If there are some comments saying this particular cue plays "jam up" or "hits s ton", or "its the best cue I ever played with". It may be true but hit is opinionated. If you get a chance, try several types from people at your local pool hall. Only you will know what feels best for you.

You will also frequently see people saying , "this is a great deal, if I had the funds I would buy this". Just don't necessarily buy into the hype. There are a lot of good sellers on here, but they also have friends. Do your homework. If "brand x" is such a deal, do a quick search for others and compare the asking price. You may be able to find it even cheaper.

Best of luck!
