What would you do?

So, in sum, you're gonna whack at it, too.

wow :D funny how after you shoot a shot you wonder if you did the right thing, well, these shots stink  and i had always heard that the right thing to do was to snag the ball on one side or the other and leave it on the rail while the cue ball comes around to the other end - i am not delicate enough to go that route and any time i have tried it, sold out. i like the whack idea :p

I'm playing the long bank, and I don't expect to leave it safe if I miss. For that reason, I'm not hitting it hard. I'll give up the chance to slop it in for a bigger pocket on the bank shot.

Playing safe here is simply too difficult, so don't bother. It's time to go for the win.

3 rails in the side, its a hanger

or

I have seen this come up and when the 9 is frozen I watched a guy hit it a bit faster than a lag and he hit it so square the 9 stayed put and the rock came perfectly straight back, basically leaving the same shot for the next guy, but that has to be perfect-i couldnt do that but its possible, it was done on slow cloth.

I set this up quite a bit last night to try it out and I had the 9ball off the rail about | | much. (that's actual size).. kicking one rail above the side pocket with a lot of draw (to get it to curve towards the 9) on an 8' 860 simonis table i couldnt hit the ball dead on. Hitting below the side pocket theres no way in hell to hit it. Now while i did make it in the corner a few times it was inconsistent and still left a good shot for the opponent when I missed.

I tried the double kiss with bottom english to pull it back and that worked only once. If it's hit even the tiniest bit off (any table roll will cause this) it double kissed at an angle and left a shot in the corner.

The most successful shot I found was the hard inside english bank. The natural angle no english bank was causing a doublekiss. The times I didnt make it it was because it got pulled too far inside which then rolled back up the table and with controlled speed I could leave a difficult shot for the op.

I couldnt keep playing due to being sick :D Hard to keep bending over the table when your nose wont cut it out. I'll have to have a talk with it later and tell it to quit when I'm over a pool table.

This is what

I call a 'Bite the Bullet' shot, or a 'do or die' shot. There is no sure safety here because you can not hold the cue ball, or if you try to, you will hit the 9 ball too hard and they will have a shot anyway.

All or nothing baby!

Im gonna bank the nine to the middle diamond and hopefully leave it in the little box ive drawn. Im gonna make my opponent beat me with a fairly tough cut shot, especially if the table is playing tight. Make them earn it...dont just shoot up in the air.

I think thinning it and sending the cueball back to end rail is better than the bank. Its not that tough a shot...it wont be perfect, but your opponent will at least have a tester to beat ya.
