Whats a good cue?

Best Snooker Cues

Funny you should ask, I've just recently done some research into snooker cues myself. I have a friend in Latvia that is a snooker coach and player. In a recent exchange with him I had asked about snooker cues and he gave me some tips as to what and whom to research.

I don't know how much Money you're willing to spend, but, the best Snooker Cues are made by John Parris, & or Trevor White. Ronnie O. uses a "Parris". John Parris is located in England, but he does have a website to order one from at "www.parriscues.com" it has a handy cue builder feature where you can design your own cue. I hear that he has quite the waiting list though and that it can take up to a year or longer to get your cue. He might have some basic stock models on hand for sale now at a reasonable price, or you could just go on Ebay and pay way too much for one now!

Depending on how fancy you want your cue and the exotic woods and veneers the prices would be comparable to a custom pool cuemakers here in the states.

If I had a place to play snooker and could afford it I would get a John Parris cue.

Also, whatever snooker cue you decide on buying, pay particular attention to the quality of the Ash Shaft! from what I've been told that is where the main difference lies between the custom snooker cue makers and the cheaper production models.

Here is a way to get a hold of Trevor:

Here is his e-mail address. trevor.white@virgin.net
You can contact ADR147 here on AzB or at www.thesnookerforum.com.

Do a search in the snooker forum and you will find my cue. Also, I am not sure if John Parris is the best any longer, but someone more educated on the topic needs to talk about that.

My picks would be:

Trevor White
Mike Wooldridge (handmadecues.com)
John Parris

When you order my suggestion would be to buy a 3/4 cue, with a mini butt, and a the extension.

Good luck!

Mike

Thanks! I'm looking for one but need it to be center joint so I can put it in my pool case with my Scruggs..

you can also look at Peradon. They make a good cue as well...............not custom, but a good cue non the less.

Just my opinion

I think John Parris is a great Cuemaker!
But if you order one from John Parris cues, it is most unlikely he will build it. (but it will still be good)

There are some good quality cues coming from Asia now... i.e. o'min or niche.

UK cuemakers that make good stuff....all those mentioned above plus you might also want to consider Craftsman Cues, Stamford Cues

I had a very good experience ordering from Mike Wooldridge, and I love my Shark cue.

Tony Glover is a top notch cue maker. I am looking into buying one of his cues right now.
