whats heavier, purple heart or rosewood?

Hi guys, can someone please tell me what is heavier, purple heart or brazilian rosewood, 2 pieces of equal size needless to say? Can you tell me by how much if possible. Thanks

Purpleheart is heavier by a factor of about 1.094.

There is enough variability in each species that could quite possibly cover that difference with weight to spare. If you have them in hand, measure them and weigh them.

Most Brazilian Rosewood is heavier than most Purple Heart. But individual pieces can vary.

There are over a dozen specie that are marketed as "Purpleheart"

Woodfinder lists the density as virtualy identical to that of Dalbergia Nigra.
