Ok I'm playing a guy some 50 a game 1 pocket in cape coral a while back and he scratches in the pocket, he's stuck a little and steaming and grabs the cue ball the throw it up table to me, it "comes out his hand" early and he throws the cue ball right into the stack about 6 or 7 balls move ( I just broke). Whats the call?
2 other variables, 1 he's very accident prone while steaming/losing( put a 12 inch rip in a cloth one time against me when he miscued and tried to shoot the ball off table, 2 we have been buddies for like 20 years not tight, but you know go out and eat, get drunk a few times at the bars. whats the official call and wwyd would be nice.
I tried to call loss of game, but gave up on it and just went with the scratch....

Re rack and you get the break.

I think the safest call here is to stop playing with jackasses.

technically your friend forfeits the game by moving more than one ball
as rod said in 1p.org
re rack your friend owes one seems fair and sociable

Wait were you playing rotation or something else? If it was rotation re rack and you get the break but if you're playing a game where the break is not in your favor then he lost that rack.

I still can't find that rule written anywhere. Another local rule perhaps?

You can see mine too

here was my reply to you
quote=jtompilot;159450]What you said was move two balls is loss of game, well I have played it's just a foul, not loss of game. Raking the balls is loss of game.

What happened to the OP is a bunch of balls moved. The normal rules are cue ball fouls only. The QB moved several balls so I would say that was a foul and he now owes two balls and play from there[/quote]

I see your point and you could be right about 2 balls being a foul not loss of game..
I stand corrected,,,.:o
if anyone can find that rule it would be helpfull

Technically, it's unsportsmanlike conduct -- it makes the game impossible to play in a fair manner.

If you are playing "cue ball fouls only" then at one pocket the rule usually is that if you move two or more it's a foul. In theory, you can put the balls back where they were. Practically, there is now way to put them back fairly especially considering how important dead balls and kisses and such are at one pocket.

it should always be loss of game.....period

otherwise it leaves open room for someone to manipulate any ball on the table at will

The thing is that it was not done accidentally during a shot, it was done during a deliberate motion outside the game. I think that a ref would call that an unsportsmanlike foul and award the game, but playing friends I would just re-rack and break. This would not be covered by more than one ball being moved in a cueball foul rule but rather the overall behavior at table rules.

It is a loss of game but if I consistently beat the guy out of his money I'd play nice, laugh it off, buy him more alcohol, take more of his money.
