at the risk of sounding ignorant and possably getting flamed for this newbe question here goes::embarrassed2:

i have seen a lot of sneaky petes on here from 'CUSTOM BUILDER' go for prices up to $600 or more for just a plain looking cue,but u can get a cue from some other manufactures like viking, mcdermott ,ob ect in same price range and get a i guess what you would say more pleasing to the eyes with designs IS there that much a difference in quality ,or playability,i guess im trying to find out what justifys the price of some of the sneaky petes, and which builder for sneaky petes

Difference in hit.

And e-penis points of course.

I dunno really. I guess whichever looks the best/sounds the best. The more confidence you have in your equipment the better you're likely to shoot from the confidence in your cue.

I'm not certain on the actual amount, but I would guess that after $300 or so you are paying for the name brand. A guy that sells his cues for $2000 needs to charge a lot for sneakys because his "time is worth it".

Difference is quality built one of a kind properly aged wood vs. a mass production cue. Having something custom made to your specifications such as weight, balance point, wood tone, taper, hit and even down to the diameter of your grip area are just some of the things you can ask for out of a custom. I'm not saying that a mass produced cue cant play lights out but you may be looking to tune what you liked from one cue to another, this is rarely achieved from production cues causing an adjustment period.

my custom sneaky is curly maple + yellowheart. the typical sneaky's you'll see are usually made of woods with contrasting colors - mine's different. it is cored at the forearm with Ipil wood, based on my preferred balance point.
