What's the legality of side bets in pool?

What are you talking about, I won zillions betting on the side of pool games. Have you ever hung around a pool room? In fac, I think I knew better who would win then the two players did in many cases.

Did you pay taxes on it? If you did the national debt would be eliminated.

Calcutta adds more money

The Calcutta my be illegal in Texas, but here around Houston they are done in almost every tourney. That is where the cash is, in the Calcutta. There are a lot of guys I see at tourneys and they never play, just buy players in the Calcutta.

I always thought a Calcutta was legal if no money was taken from the pot.

I can understand why (Tours) don't do a calcutta. But room tournaments almost have to just make it worth staying up so late.
