I know what you mean Russ. what I meant is that shot is widely used in carom (3C) and rotation (caroming another ball to pocket). Scaramouche just gave a great example. but you are right with the term force-follow.
 
yes that's the one! sometimes it can happen even closer to the rail with a some what smaller curve angle. :)

I never knew a name for it, but I think it's a pretty elementary shot, just requires a good follow stroke and an accurate hit on the first ball.
