I'm a weak as water 7 in 8-ball and 9 in 9-ball. Our LO moves people up quickly so that by the following session they have to split up and form a new team. All about the $$$!!

I'm curious of those who are on AZB who play APA what their rank is in 8-Ball. Please don't turn this into why APA's handicap system sucks or such. This is just a curiosity question...

Please be honest as I know everyone on the board isn't a 7...

Myself, I'm now a 5, slowly getting back to where I was playing 15 years ago...

i just got bumped to a six in nine ball and and should get bumped to a six any time now in 8. i played apa for about two years a while back and then didn't play pool for almost ten years and i've been back at it for about a year and a half and i've been a five almost the entire time. but there are enough people b*tching about me now that i should get reaised up any day.

i am a 3 went up and down the last year. i have not beaten a 3 this year but have beat all the 5's and 6's and one 7 this session and am in 3rd for our top gun....and now have stiches in my hand so who knows how that will work out

I became a 6 playing 8 ball on the bar tables. Now I play on the big tables and I am probably playing as a 5, but here's the catch. I went to Vegas last year as 6. Therefore I can never go down.
Here's any interesting apa rule I found out this year. Once you reach a skill level you can never go down more than one skill level, ever. That means even if you didn't go to Vegas and lock in at a skill, but you reached a skill of let's say 5 no matter what you ever did you could not go down to a 3.

what? I was a 6 like a year ago in a different state and then started playing recently again. I stayed a 6 for a couple weeks then I played one game against a new low ranked player who was very good and now I am a 3, lol. I quit playing APA after that, and also because my college hall stopped participating in APA and I dont know anyone at other pool halls

When I played the APA I was a 7 in 8ball & a 9 in 9ball.

Not sure about that rule on going down. I have a freind here that qualified for the singles as an 8 in 9ball a couple years ago. He went to vegas and finished 17th & was moved to a 9 while there. A few months ago he just was not playing good pool but was still at like a 60%+ win average & got dropped to an 8 LOL. Was a bit funny to me.. especially with his ego he was not happy lol.

Apa 6 in 8 ball here in Kansas.

I heard the rule about going down is if you have so many matches as a skill level, maybe 20, then you can't go down 2 levels after that. Of course I also hear the league op can always do whatever he wants.

Seriously though, there's a big universe above a new APA SL7.

Very big.

You can say that again. I made SL7 in 8-ball (I don't play league 9-ball) a year and a half ago, and after 1.5 sessions as a 7, I took a break from league for 2 sessions to play in a weekly 9-ball tournament and engage in occasional small money games after the tournament. I found out that as a relatively weak SL7, I still had some improving to do and experience to gain before I worked my way up to "fish".

SL5 for the past few years, started as a very weak SL2 about five years ago.

The last time I played APA (probably 6 years ago), I ended at a 6 (if I recall). My friend who runs an APA league down here says I'd probably be ranked a 7 now though. Be advised there can be some large gaps between players that are 7s.

There can be gaps between 7's like from a 4 to a 7. I'm probably at the lower end of the 7's, and the 7's at the top would be 9's and 10's if those skill levels existed.
