What's your favorite tip?

I thought it would be neat to see what AZ'ers preference was on the tip.

List brand and hardness...(soft, med, hard)

I've always used Moori Medium, but see a lot of tiger and kamui talk too...

Well...bring it!!!

My Favourite Tip

It's got to be standing in the Bookmaker's

latching onto a tip , betting it and it wins at big odds

triangles perform and feel just right for me. i know a couple real good shooters, and that's all they use. plus, I like a tip that will last at least a year for me. never ran into a 'bad' one, but rumors are you might. that said, it's the angler, not the arrow.

Triumph, made by Tweeten, is a red fiber-backed vegetable tanned tip. It looks and plays fairly close to the old French Champion tip, fairly medium hardness. You can get them at just about any billiard supply store, as well as Ebay.

What's a Triumph? Or am I walking into a good one liner? :grin-square:

Best,
Mike

I should have helped with a picture as well:

For me its Kamui soft, had to many triangles turn to shit. went through 5 of em in a month and decided enough is enough. switched to a kamui soft and love it

DaVinci soft
- hits like a medium
- accepts chalk nicely with that gritty sound
- no odd clicking sounds when striking the cueball like other layered tips
- holds it shape
- does not change that much after allot of use (as other tips harder over time)

Kamui Black Soft is a nice tip as well, just odd to get use to the height of this tip - and this one stays consistant as well

Triangle is my choice. I've tried the layered tips even a Kamui or two and I keep going back to Triangle.

Did you put on the Triangles yourself?
Did they just fall apart or did you just not like them and changed them 5 times in one month?

I had 3 of them put on and they all mushroomed or didnt hold their shape. Ive heard that you have to shape them short for them to hold their shape. well that still didnt work. so i bought another 2 and put them on myself and had the same problem.

I went through 5 of them in a month trying to get a ''good one'' but didnt have any luck.

Oh figure id mention the first 3 were put on with a lathe and the other 2 were put on with a shaft spinner i made. its a shame because i used to really like triangles but was pretty pissed because i had switched from lepro's to triangles for the same reason. Then found out they're both made by the same company which really pissed me off. I dont get it, i never had a problem with either one of these tips until about 2 years ago. Did tweeten change their manufacturing processes or something or have they always been this way and ive been lucky

Maybe they let up on their Quality Control. The Triangle tips I have are fairly old between 10-15 years old now. I have 2 boxes which should last me for awhile:) I change them about once a year.
