Personally, I'd play for the out, with a stop on the 5 and then 8:00 on the CB to break out the 8/9. But of the more conservative approaches, this is by far my favorite. The hook plays very big because you can hook behind the 7 with the CB or behind the 8/9 with the 5. With BIH and the 5 near the 8/9, you're a pretty big favorite to get out. In fact, maybe I would play this over the runout.

I know it's my suggestion but I still believe that in the long run in plays better and your the odds on favourite from there even if you don't break open the 8-9 cluster. You got the hammer so keep it.

Playing a low percentage 5-9 might leave somebody a lucky kick carom 9 or even a jump 5-9 combo. My way the 5 is on the wrong side of the 9 for that kind of slop. Making the 5-9 from there is about 20:1, You can still win but don't have too.

It looks like your game goal is for a 3 foul win, now. The 8, 9,and 5 will be in a cluster, and you can hopefully baby hit the 5 with bih until you get the 3rd foul. Am I seeing that right?

That's exactly how I'd run it.

I'd never play the 5-9. I'm just not that good at them. Especially if its on a 9 footer. I'd make it maybe 2 out of 15 tries.

I'd also never play the break out either when the 8 definitely goes into a pocket. Too high risk for my liking.

The way you've illustrated is going to give me the best chance of running out. Even if I landed the wrong side of the 8 I'd still have a simple shot, and bump the 9 into the long rail whilst following through for it. And I could always play safe behind the 9 if I didn't fancy the pot.
