What's your pet peeve?

slow play, upside down chalk, and getting home from a fast food joint and finding out they left something out of my order. I mean really, how hard is it to get a damn order right in a drive through? Apparently its amazingly hard because it happens to me all of the time and I call and cuss them out every time.

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing the same way and expecting different results. Once you understand that the minimum wage order taker is prone to mistakes, it becomes as much your fault if you don't check the bag before you drive home.

90% of the time I check the bag, but my wife doesnt and then I get mad at her or I ask them if they are absolutely sure that my order is right and if not I'm coming back and shooting everyone.

I also hate the upside down chalk but even more than that, I hate when people chalk after they shoot. What makes them think they will shoot again? But my biggest chalk peeve, is when people take chalk off the table, esp when there is only one! OR they have some scraggy old chalk and I get out a new piece and they keep taking it. I don't mind if they use it but leave it on the table!

Also, slow play, talkers and quitters...there is a guy at this one pool hall that shows up sometimes before league for some free practice (he is not in the league) he has asked me to play a few times. Every time I am winning, he quits one me! I have even seen him start playing with someone else after he told me he had to leave =]!

People who MUST place the chalk upside down on the rails. It's messy and gets all over your hands and clothes. What's that all about anyway?
OMFG!!!! I know how you feel, that makes me want to Kill people!!
Half the voices in my head say beat some ass and the other half says don't be stupid...:o

I guess I'm not a people person...here goes:

Aftermarket shaft preachers are easily more anoying than Christians.

Those who think a "custom" cue is better than another simply because of the word custom.

Those who think Moori's are worth the money over a 50-cent Triangle.

Those who say the words "dominent" and "eye" in the same sentence.

Although I shouldn't let it bother me, I hate when your opponent cheers for your mistake instead of for their own play.

HA! That reminds me...I was playing this girl in our LTC's for APA, I went for a 3 rail bank on the 8 and missed by a hair bobbling it out of the pocket, this guy on her team yells out "YES!". I'm on my way back to sit down when he says this, so I turn around and go up to him, and with the classic fist and arm pumping motion, yell YES!! right back at him, turn around and sit down......needless to say, he shut up pretty quick and I didn't hear a peep out of him the rest of the match :)

Ever notice all the jerks on the road. You know the guy in front of you who drives to slow and the idiot behind you who drives too fast.

I never liked baseball until someone pointed out that there is no time limit. It is a pastime and that is one of the more enjoyable aspects of the game. Seems to me that most pool games have no time limit unless agreed to before the game begins. In this sense there are no slow players.

Nice thing about televised baseball is that you can turn the sound off, share a beer with a buddy and discuss the topics of the day. Whether it is enjoyable or not probably depends upon who you invite to the game.

In general, pool halls bug me for all of the reasons given in the prior posts so I wonder why anyone goes to a hall unless it is for some other reason ? like taking people?s money.

It's not pool-related, but I can't stand it when people say "I could care less". What the hell does that mean, you care a little bit?? If you're going to use a cliche, at least get it right.

Sorry, I'm not even an English teacher, but that one has always bugged the crap out of me.

Pet Peeves. At 60 you really have a nice long list that has taken years to develope, and they cover everything from A to Z

But to stay on topic my pool related peeves would have to include:

1. The pool slob, he has a nice cue , but never cleans it, its just thick with chalk dust and crap, his ferrule is all blue. His hands are filthy from such a dirty cue.
2. The powder freak, he has to have it on both hands all thru the fingers up and down the cue shaft and butt. You have to clean off the table after a simple set to 5.
3. And of course the man of a 1000 excuses, this guy has all the excuses you could ever want to hear of why his game is off. Some of the ones i have hear..the table is off, i'm not used to this cloth, the rail has a dead spot, the pockets are too deep and narrow. And is always telling you how good he once was.

forum pet peeves:

then - time-related (various uses)
than - comparative (used, as after comparative adjectives and adverbs, to introduce the second member of an unequal comparison)

accept - receive with approval...
except - with the exclusion of

your - possessive pronoun
you're - contraction of you are

there are a few more, i think these are the major ones.

Slow play bugs me, but it's not a pet peeve...it's part of the game.

I really hate to see white hand prints (from talc) on a green cloth and those ugly looking tan and red streaks (from tan and red cue chalk) really bug me...shows no respect for the equipment IMO.

Those players that need to use my chalk because they didn't bring thier own and there is none on the table...that's why I bring my own.

Exactly!!!

Yes, and don't forget improper usage of "their", "there", and "they're". OH, and then there's the mixing of "to" and "too". :D

I'm also not liking the upside down chalk. Why do ppl do it? So they dont have to go through the strenuous activity known as turning it upside down to chalk?

Also def not a fan of the masturbation stroke. I don't see how vibrating your cue back and forth half an inch is going to help you shoot whitey (no pun intended) where you want it.

What really kills me are the kids that stand on eitherside of the table much like air hockey and shoot balls back and forth at each other. Grief. Whats the freaking point? You're just going to end up getting your fingers smashed.

Also dislike people using my cues. I'm a big fan of sharing but cmon, don't go picking your nose then stick out your hand expecting me to pass off my clean and pricey baton your way.

I can't stand to see body english or swinging the cue stick after the hit. It drives me nuts.
Also, people who try to shark you by making sly comments about how great a player you are when you know that they are just trying to throw you off your game.

Chalking after they miss is the absolute worst for me... My opponents tend to do that all the time. And then they stand there with the chalk in their hand and I'm like "Can I have that?" People are so rude.

People that have a lit cigarette dangling from their mugs while shooting. The smoke in most places is bad enough but you could at least respect the tables.

The Industry supporting the home sales market and not the Sport. If they did they could not keep up with sales.

Well, the grammer/spelling mistake I see the most often is making "a lot" into one word! There is no such word as alot!

Also people typing, "I need advise" instead of advice...
