I think you take 'can't' too literally, perhaps.

I would guess neil's can't really means could, but you got no idea where the cb is going after...aka 'can't' for all intents/ porpoises.

Well than hit it with bottom left hard and firm. Hopefully you catch the side rail after teh hit to get the rock down table. You could have a bank in the side... or you could have a great angle to stun the 5 and kiss the cue to the 7 ball. Loads could happen here. You could even cross bank the 5 onto the back rail if you get left up table.

Loads of possibilties.

I agree that drawing to the OTHER side of the 5 ball would have been a better choice. Going the way that the OP did makes the side pocket scratch a huge possibility. In fact, he was lucky NOT TO scratch.

no actually i have seen diamond bar boxes aka smart tables and the shelf is not more than 2 inches and actually more like 1 and 1/2 inches and while you can be to ddep to go across the point on some angles that isnt what i was talking about i was talking about hitting the 4 about 1/4 right of center wlth right on the cue ball and going 2 rails past the 5 then shooting it back to the side pocket even if you catch the tit off the 4 you dont scratch you just rebound back off the left long rail and still wind up down table for a 5 ball shot.
