When everything seems to go wrong, but you still win?

Well that was how my nite went, lol. I was warming up with a friend and I just couldnt seem to put anything together. I'd miss a easy shot or two and was just off by that lil bit.

So anyways, league starts (APA 8ball) and I put myself up in the 3rd match and end up playing another SL6, and the guy just thinks he is GOD's gift to the pool world, and has a huge ego. I mean he plays decent but isnt probably any better than a C+/B- player.

Well the first two games, I was still in a funk, and just couldnt get anything going. And was down 2-0. I then win the next two, and he wins another and is up 3-2. I win and make it 3-3.

I dont know if it was me, or him or the table, but my break sucked, I did get one decent break but even that sounded like a slug rack.

SO I am breaking, and I decided since using my break cue isnt helping, I just do a second ball break with my playing cue, and the 8ball Shoots out of the rack to the head rail and goes back down table, and gets knocked into the side pocket ! WOOT

Well he racks the balls, and says go and try that again, I dare you lol.

SO I line up, again and break. The 8ball goes straight towards the side pocket and rattles, before settling in the middle of the table. Well it comes down to I couldnt get to my last ball and gave him BIH and accidently broke out a cluster.

He is running out and gets bad position and trys to leave me tough but I end up playing a easy safe. Well I hear him say his usual rant about how he should wipe the floor with me and I cant win unless i use a BS move like a saftey.

So yea even when I was playing like crap, and had a tough time putting together 4 balls in a row I ended up winning lol.

nice job. feels good to beat a loud mouth.

That was a huge win.....anybody can win when they are on, it takes a true competitor to find a way to win when their game is off.....your confidence has got to be sky high.....and it always helps to beat a jerk ;)

I was off last night and took a beating :(

Gotta love it when that happens. :D

We (my league team) had a very strange night this past Monday, we were playing the last place team who had only won 5 1/2 game points all year up to that point (we've won 40-some) and we ended up losing 3 of the 4 game points to them. They had very low handicapped players who just seemed to get all the lucky breaks/rolls that night and it left me just shaking my head in disbelief after it was all said and done.

The guy I played was a 3 handicap (their whole team combined only had a total of 14 handicap) and I'm an 11, and for example, the 2nd game (I smoked him on the first game) I ran down to the 8-ball but got slightly hooked behind one of his balls so I just made a decent hit on the 8 and figured with his handicap he's more than likely give me another shot, which he did.......4 times! But wouldn't you know it, EVERY time he had me hooked behind one of his balls (and not once on purpose, trust me) and I had to either kick or bank at the 8, and 2 of those times I just barely missed my shot, one of the times I fell prey to a dead rail on a kick attempt  (Man I hate dead rails!) and he ended up eventually getting all his balls knocked in (it took him 4 times to get 8 balls off) but scratched on his last ball and finally gave me ball-in-hand with just the 8 left on the table. And the last game, I break and run off 6 balls but didn't get a break-out on one ball quite the way I wanted, so I play a safety of sorts leaving him a tough shot figuring he's only gonna make that shot once in several attempts but this ends up being the one time he does make it, leaving him pretty much a wide open table but I wasn't worried as I'd seen his stats for the year and figured he hadn't run a rack all year so why would tonight be the night, right? Well, he ran them off, just barely getting a couple shots to fall, and you should of heard his team whooping and hollering when he did it, you'd of thought they just won a 10 million dollar lottery prize. I actually kinda felt good for the guy thinking that maybe this would be his best memory of the year in league, beating a top 10 guy in his league once by running out his first rack of the year, so I just shook his hand and told him nice run and smiled and walked off shrugging my shoulders since everyone in the bar knew that this was just a fluke and that, oh well, chit happens sometimes. But I did learn a lesson, which I have learned before but got lax on that night, and that is never underestimate your opponent, always play them like they are as good if not better than you are. I would have played one or two shots differently if I were playing a higher handicapped player and it bit me in the arse this night.

My team is in 4th place in league standings and we always seem to finish 2nd or 3rd at the end of the year (5 weeks left this year), but this was by far the biggest upset we've had happen to our team in a number of years.
