I just finished 2 "Christmas" Qs that were difficult. I got one done yesterday & the second late this afternoon. They were both for old friends & turned out perfect, in every way, BUT as often with complex designs, when I finish I feel drained & don't want to work on anything for a while. Does anyone else feel that way?...JER

I always feel motivated to make more.

Jer.........it's because you when you build cues you are building from your "true" inner core........you are building from your heart.....the money is secondary.
I sometimes take up to a month or longer to get back into the "groove" of things after a group gets finished. I just lose focus..........so now I do the mundane stuff such as cleaning shop...turning shafts, go wood shopping(my favorite) and things like that where I just don't have to use much of my brain. (not that I using much of it any other time).
Relax and take a couple deep breaths and enjoy.. "smell the coffee"......you know it's going to come back around soon enough!

That's just what I do cut shafts, turn squares into rounds simple things. Usually 2 days of avoiding REAL work, then back at it...JER

It's a relief for me. I always want it to be perfect, and until it's done, I'm never sure. I do get "writer's block" or maybe better called wood block occasionally. I look at the wood and see nothing. No colors seem to go together and no inlays seem the right proportion. Just as the others said, time to clean, turn and do other brainless operations. Then one day things start to look right to me again and away we go. Maybe I need to try Dave's Root Beer therapy.
