When is a thread too long?

Did you ever want to post on a topic but couldn't until you read the entire thread? Asking yourself "did someone already make that observation?”

When you can't easily digest the information anymore because there is too much of it.

Generally around the third page mark. By then the topic has morphed into something completely unrelated to the OT. Usually someone tries to steer it back on course with the old "come on guys!" approach but it's too late. Around that time an argument or two will break out and the trolls move in to do their thang. The great replies usually hit around the middle of the first page, after a few mandatory jokes. Just my observations.:D ;)
