when was the last time you missed a Ball In Hand shot?

I have to admit its happened to me, usually when I'm trying to do too much with the CB...........

Ugh....you had to ask. Last time? Probably way more recent than I'd admit if I weren't being honest right now. I've mangled a few rails with the ole BIH for sure.

Among the most humbling of pool experiences.

It is not unusual for me, usually because you are forced to put QB close to object ball and rail then after pocketing object ball using QB to break a cluster. Usually trying to take care of 2 or 3 problem balls all in 1 shot.

I recall seeing a woman in a WPBA event miscuing ball-in-hand on the 9. In the annals of pool, that may be the biggest choke in history. This was something like 20yrs ago.

U may be thinking of GYK in the 2003? us open final but it was on the 8 ball-hill hill i believe-she won the US Open the next year

That reminds me of the two players I saw lagging for the break. One of them miscued and never got the CB past the line, the other schratched in the corner. Any ref's here?

The last time? Certainly within the last week or so.....I try to block those out :p

Unfortunately, it happens too often to block out. Usually from trying to do too much, sometimes from just being a bonehead.

I missed 4 in one match which was a race to 3 and then 2 since I was in the hotseat on winners side and had to be beat twice, so about one a game.

I have to say only one of them was a legitimate miss though, I had to line up a cut in the side pocket on a tight table and try to break open a cluster, took my eye off the shot.

The rest I was just too lazy to aim on.

Probably missed 4-5 other shots those two sets that were just about ball in hand shots.

You should not start a match by saying "I'm getting bored here, when is it time to leave ?"

Mostly when thinking too much about where the cue ball is supposed to go. "I had big plans for that one"

Reminds me of a lesson learned at an Archery course. There was a target setup where you had to shoot between two large trees. First attempt, I hit one tree, then I hit the other tree. On the third attempt, I figured it out that if I concentrated on the target, I did not have to worry about the trees.

That is a great example! I have heard people say and repeat the same thing "don't think of what you don't want to do, think of what you want to do". If you start thinking about making sure not to scratch or not to miss or to make sure you don't hit the wrong ball on a close hit, you are almost guaranteeing that is what will happen LOL

Instead of saying "don't scratch in the side", mentally put a picture in your head of "hit the rail here".

Or like golf. Don't think about the water. The 17th hole at my home course is either the easiest hole on the course or the hardest hole on the course, depending upon your point of view. It's a short par 5. Good drive puts you at the end of the fairway with 150-180 to the green. The approach is over a ravine, with the two-tiered L-shaped green on the edge of the ravine. So many amateurs chunk it into the ravine because they're too busy thinking about it. Me, I take my birdie or eagle and close out the round.

The mind is a powerful thing.

Uh...well, an update from me. Answer: last night. Root cause determined as: shooter is side pocket retarded.

Until next week!

I would like to say never but I would be a lier. Like dormant stated eye on cue ball and not the object ball. Too easy to waste time aiming?
