Where are all the pros......

Like Saw said, CTE, BHE, and all the other acronyms, are used by frustrated mathematical engineer types...trying to put an equation on something that will explain to them, in numerical terms, why they can't make a f-ing ball.

that....is brilliant.....

Boy has this cleared the water...

I posted this then left for the day. Let me tell you I'm enlightened now. I couldnt be happier I'm not a engineer.....:grin::grin:.

Aiming systems are a way for amateurs to try and rationalize how the pro's are able to shoot the way they do thinking if I could just learn that system I can shoot like them. The realization that there is no such thing is an important step to getting better imo.

Center To Edge aiming. There are several variations of it but what it amounts to is it is "fractional" aiming. 1/4 ball, 1/2 ball, 3/4 ball, full ball hits, etc... Opinions on it are like ***holes, everbody has one!!! Believers, non believers, partial believers, and everthing in between. "Fractional" beliefs, if you will.... LOL Probably a good thing to learn from someone who truly knows how to teach CTE (Hal Houle, Tom Simpson, Randy G, Scott Lee, etc...) and then form your opinion from there. You may find it has merit, you may not, but it can't hurt to give it a shot....

JDUB, if you're tuning in by chance, I still need my instructional on it.....

Aahh, Thank you for the information. I remember seeing an articial in Pool and Billiards magazine about 1989 or 90 by Wade Crane inregards to this type of aiming...Interesting. thanks again!

I don't use any kind of aiming system. As you progress in your skill, you slowly begin to learn just where to hit it. The bad thing about 'aiming systems', is that the only work half the time and for center ball hits only. As soon as you put left or right english on it, it throws off your shot by diamonds. Pool is a feel sport. Anytime I am trying to teach an amateur, they ask me how to aim. I tell them to put a string on the rail and practice hitting it from different spots on the table. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't show him how to walk." You gotta figure it out on your own! Practice! Practice! Practice!

At the APA Nationals, Alison Fisher was selling the BAT Billiard Aiming Trainer.
It shows you the fractions as well as where to be making the shot.
Lots of people recomended them.
I think it is worth checking out if you are having aiming troubles.

I think i have almost every aiming device that has be invented. Allisons B.A.T i like personally speaking as it shows the you the overlap of the balls but one thing is you have to remove it to shoot the shot. Joe Tuckers laser trainer has to be the best out there, but they all boil down the same thing i think. There are four shots in pool for me, remember those spots and practice:grin:
