The Pool Room in Marietta is by far the biggest. And there is smoking in which I'm sure you have figured out. I'm not sure if they have taken off hte Mali Slow on the Olhausens. However the GCIV blacks do have Simonis on them and look well kept last time I saw them.
Mr. Cues 2 is where you go if you want to find some of the best players in the state.
The Pool Room in Duluth is where I go the most except on league nights where I go to Cues 2. The Duluth room is no-smoking but can serve alcohol on Sunday unlike the Pool Room in Marietta.
English Billiards off of 141 in North fulton is a decent place. They have 10 tables. 8 8ft AE Schmidts and 2 9ft AESchmidts. Last time I went there the tables where in poor condition. And some country club was also having their own little tournament.
Sweetwater Bar and Grill in Duluth is a decent place. I believe they have ABC tables with slow cloth. But they do have a decent bit of tables if I remember correctly. Unfortunately last time I went there I dont really recall much
The Independent (Formally Duprees) in Midtown is a decent place also. They have 8 9ft Gandys. 7 of them are in slow cloth and 1 of them in Brunswick Centenial. I know many of the players there and they do have some decent players come out. I'm guessing some of the Cues2 crowd goes there when they don't feel like fighting Atlanta traffic
Barleys off of Peachtree Industrial and Pleasent hill is also an alright pool hall. I refelted one of their tables there but last time I went there it didn't look like they have changed it since I did. They do have 10 Diamond Pro8s in there.
International Bowl off of Buford highway and I-285 is a place not to go. They have Diamond tables but are nowhere near level and have slow cloth. Not to mention you are shooting less than 60" from the other table.
Brass Rails in Athens is also a good place to go. But from Marietta it can be a good drive. But I saw mentioned in the tournament announcements there is going to be an amature 9ball event there which should draw out some good players so it might be worth a drive to you then.
If you have Myspace you can go to a group I created called
Georgia Billiards. The main picture is "The Independent" pool hall in midtown.
On this group you should also see some links to various pool halls with some reviews of them. I should have a review of the Pool Room in Marietta up soon. Along with Brass Rails and English billiards.
And as the locals would say "Welcome to Atlanta where the (Pool) Players Play".
