It seems like nobody makes them anymore. Gone the way of the Dog Bone bridge. I've searched and even called a few places and nobody has any ideas where to get them.

Not sure where you can get them but you should be able to make them yourself pretty cheap. You could use a piece of dowel or string and just get those plastic golf balls.

I thought they must be hard, if not impossible to find because I remember a whole thread of people saying different ways they have made their own.

Do a forum search on "Scoring beads" to find those threads.

However they are not hard at all to find for sale. Do a Google search on "billiards scoring beads" and you'll get pages full of options for where to order them online. Doubt you could find them in any local store though.

How about one like this. I made it myself. The paint was what made the cost go up a bit but I wanted it to mimick the color of the actual balls. You could not paint them to save on cost.

The balls are just wiffle golf balls used for practice that you could find at most any golf shop. They used to come in both white and orange, not sure about the orange anymore. DIY by getting a couple of bags of these and some wire or rod and string them across the light fixture. If you can't find them in two colors just paint, stripe, or mark every 5th ball to make visually referencing the score easier.

If I was wanting wire scoring for straight pool I would just buy a set of beads ready made but for scoring races the balls are pretty cool.

Fishing line for the golf balls won't scratch your cue. If you wanted to emulate pool balls, a set of 1.25" balls is less than 10 bucks on eBay. Drill them at 1/4 down from the top perpendicular to the numbers and they'll stay right side up. Easy way to count to 15, with a cue ball to set the drill press up with :)

Kenny,
I hope you find em! Maybe there is a set in the basement at Felt, we should see if Danny or Adam would let us look around again.

I'm looking for balls on the wire for short races not scoring beads. 1 through 9 per side, like ping pong balls. I can make them but they wont look as nice. Their in most pool halls but not manufactured anymore I guess.
