Good question. Doesn't the local Bida places have tournaments?
they do, at those prices i spoke of
Maybe the room is waiting for someone to volunteer to run them. Maybe the room is not willing to donate the table time. Maybe no one wants to play just for bragging rights.
Have you tried volunteering to run one?

We have weekly tournaments $40 entry fee.
As Bob Jewett pointed out $20 is not enough for a meaningful prize fund or a green fee.
I also want to point out it was $20 entry fee 15+ years ago when coffee was $1
As far as big tournaments go; top players do the math if it’s worth the trip and expenses. As in if the first place prize is only covering hotel+trip+expenses+entry then you won’t have any big name.
So have 3 level tournaments.
Weekly: $20
Monthly local : $80
Big ones : $250-$300
Maybe this clarifies.

i feel like this would be the main thing from knowing a few of the managers/owners around the area for years now.
im burned out on organizing and running tournaments currently had my fill of it for the year
$10-$20 entry pool tournaments are every day on all sides of town , its meaningful enough to lots of people
