Where did it go?

I'm in need of some sage advice please.I am a "B" player.Meaning I can shoot an "A" game on occasion but usually don't string 'em together or maintain an "A" game.Last weekend I made the second day in an annual memorial tournament that draws some heavy players. As the second day play proceeded I found myself shooting on a level I seldom maintain for very long and continued to do so till I captured 4th place out of 84 players.I was in the proverbial ZONE! Now it's a few days later and what I desperately need to know now is, how can I get it back? Not only is the ZONE gone [which I now is normal]but my regular game is gone to. I can't hit a ball!Am I suffering from a known syndrome or what?? Don:( :( :(

I suspect that the more-serious-than-usual situation simply caused you to focus on your game more.

I've been in that situation. I played in a Valley singles tournament a few months ago. My first three matches on Friday, I was just on fire - shooting some of the best pool of my life. But then I came back Saturday, and I had lost that focus, and went two-and-out.

it always seems when its an important match like a tourny everyone steps it up a notch.i think thats normal.congrats on 4th though.

Often a big win can cause me to get a little overconfident, and cause me to lose focus. I get to where I take some easier shots for granted, and don't give them the full attention they deserve. Once I remember to concentrate and focus on every shot, no matter how easy, I start playing better.

Yeah, this isn't terribly unusual. I'm the exact same way and there's nothing wrong with it. Typically, if I play GREAT during a tournament/league/for money, I will turn-off when playing for fun the following day.

This is why, if I'm competing a lot (league 3 nights and maybe a 2-day tournament same week), I'll make it a point not to play when I'm not competing. There's simply no point. The only way you're going to play great for fun is when you're just so hyped about playing, it doesn't matter that it's for nothing. Usually, this only happens when you've taken a few days off.

You were playing with a lot of confidence all 3 days - you could see it in the way you walked around the table. It was cool you put up some of the players so they didn't need to get a hotel --- that is a lot of class. Take some time, the zone will come back. And when are you coming down and playing me?
