Maybe I'm just going out at the wrong time, but I can't seem to find anywhere to play in the East Portland/Gresham area since Classics closed (I heard from someone that they closed, I haven't actually driven down there to find out for myself). I go to Fortune Star, Pub 181, Midway, Rodders, and a couple other places because I hear "you'll find some masters and A's there," but I just can't seem to find them. I'm an APA 9 and I'm sick of playing nothing but 4-5's... I forgot how to play safe lol.

I went to Midway in Oregon City looking for a game (just fun, no gambling till I get a new job) and instead found a tournament. I try to enter, and they say no 9's or masters allowed! What the hell, I thought Midway is where the good locals show up? I see Bobby Zack, Glen Atwell, Mike Zimmerman all over the trophies at Midway.

Is there some amazing pool hall on the East side of Portland that I've just never heard of? I need to branch out beyond playing slam ball on a bar box with my 70 year old friend who is a 4.

I met Ray Cunningham at Fortune star and he's a pretty solid player, I think he's a master, but he's the only player I've seen there lately worth shooting with. Again I'm not looking for action nor do I want to travel, just looking for somewhere close by to have a beer and shoot for fun with some skilled players.

Also, are there any good weekly tournaments? I have played the Pub 181 Saturday tournament a few times and did well, but I don't like getting up that early on Saturdays because I work late Fridays.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Heres one closer to you. It's called Cue's Billiards 16126 SE Stark in Gresham. I stopped there several years ago while I was driving truck otr. Good tables and stayed open late. They have a small website and it looks like they are still there.

Yeah I used to be a regular there but they closed down as well. I don't think SE Portland has the pool scene to keep a pool hall open right now, especially with all the 7' diamonds around town.

Thanks for the info though.

I was at classics 2 weeks ago, so if its closed, it's uber recent. I'm in the Gresham/troutdale area and I go to Rialtos in downtown Portland, free on Mondays, Touches on NW Glisan and 14th, service industry night is Sunday which means its free. SAMs on 41st and Hancock, good BCA league( pool from 5-1, league is 7-9 roughly, Thursday for $5, join BCA)and a straight pool league on Saturdays. Dons Dugout on Halsey apparently has free decent pool. Feel free to give me a call if you wanna shoot sometime. I also shoot snooker at the Blue Moon in NW, their tables, pool and snooker, are free till 5.

So, does anyone know for sure if Classic is closed? I haven't talked to Paul in a little while, but that would sure be unexpected. It sounds like Cue's is closed.

Thanks. That's good to hear. I was posting at the same time as you above or I wouldn't have asked. I'd look there for a game with a good player.

Awesome thanks for the info guys I appreciate it. I'm so glad to hear Classic is not closed, what a terrible rumor that was!
