Where is Bucktooth?

I used to go into Tooth's place in Manteca right after he opened it. Tony Annigoni was his partner and he actually ran the place for the most part. After Tony left, Dominick, Tooth's son, ran the place. Dominick is a very nice guy too and nothing like his dad, i.e., he's not gregarious and he doesn't play a lot of pool.

The thing that impressed me the most about Tooey (another nickname for Tooth) is that when he played, it didn't matter how much he played for, he was playing to win. A young guy that befriended him used to play Tooey 1h for $3 a game. Tooey would play one-handed and get a small spot. Toohey played like he was playing for thousands! Tooey wound up beating the guy all the time and when he won, he'd say something like, "Lunch is on you pal!" or "I'm putting you on the Red Eye Express to Omaha and you aint comin' back!" You can say a lot about Bucktooth but one thing you can't say is that he's boring to be around!

Are there any pictures of Bucktooth anywhere? I wonder if I know who he is or I would recognize him. Philw

Contact Accu-stats (Pat Fleming). There was a 30 minute recording of Bucktooth trying to get Efren, or anyone of the "champions", to play him for whatever they want to bet..."just have to make the game fair" ;). Don't even no if it was ever for sale or if it's available now, but a friend of mine showed it to me years ago in California.

Anyway, it's hilarious and very entertaining. He related a very funny story of him playing Keith $100 a game where he allowed Keith to play on the wire and stories of him and Cole Dickson and much more. You would be hard pressed to find anything more entertaining than this 30 min video that was captured after hours.

Dave

Thanks for the info

When Tony ran it, it ran better because he was there and had 20+ years experience in the biz, when Dom took over it went down hill a little bit because Dom had a very successful mortgage business going and the pool room wasnt his big $$$ maker, I really like Dom alot. We lost touch, but I was living in Vegas and got real busy with a business retired from pool etc. But it was a good room for along time, some big action there too, Rodney grabbed $60K from Boy George. I was in Vegas when all this happened but I had a friend who worked there so I got all the info.

Tooth is one of a kind to say the least they will never be another one like him, Pool seems more bland these days I have just got back into it since 94 and there is less action and charcters etc. Just the bangers on the weekends playing "Hotel California"-I NEVER want to hear that song AGAIN, that song was played 20 times a night for years inb cue-topia in Vegas, we used to count it everytime it played on a piece of paper and it was never less than 10 times a night, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year it was redicouls, we did the math, for some thing to do.

One of the reasons the place was doing so well was that there was a big fish in there. Players were coming from all over to play him. This guy didn't mind losing $7,000 a week if he thought he might have a chance. Cole Dixon was there, a guy named San Diego Dave, etc. For some reason, the fish left and business kind of dried up after that.

Manteca had people in the town that were not good for business either. Lot's of cranksters there and they just aren't very good for business, especially late at night.

Did you used to work at a tire company in Stockton? If so, I think I remember you. We played a few times before you left for Vegas and maybe once when you came back to visit. If not, forget about it.

Tooth amazed me all the time. Not only could he talk someone out of their money but he could definitely play them out of it too. He played a pretty good stick, especially when it was for the cash! Of course he's blind in one eye now and can't see out of the other one (just in case Richard is reading this).

I think that's just a false rumor. Most people that know him would find that very hard to believe. He's a nice guy but he's not one to give money away, at least not that I know of.
