Hi,

Where is Ernie? Does he still have his shop on Vineland in NOHO?

Is he still making cues?

Who would recommended for box cue?

Ginacue

Bumbay, as far as I know, Ernie is still in N. Hollywood, 5424 Vineland. (818) 509-0454

Not sure what a 'box' cue is, but if you mean a BAR box cue, Little Al sneaky pete IMHO.

He is still at his shop on Vineland.

Ernie makes a beautiful box cue but if you want one from him I would suggest you move quickly, as he finishes up work on his anniversary cues and is one step closer to retirement, and plan on spending at least $5K on the cue.

Hi All,

Thanks, for the information. Took a ride out to NOHO. The building was difficult to find with no clearly marked address, but I found it. I did not knock because I was not sure if it was the correct place.

I spoke with Ernie over the phone. Ernie, gave me the following rundown:

1. Currently not taking any orders
2. Finishing current work
3. May be taking orders again in the 03/16 - 05/16 tiime-frame

For the desired design (and this was just a quick non-detailed conversation):
1. Pink Ivory
2. Ivory or Tulip Wood boxes
3. Trimmed in contrasting Ivory or Tulip Wood
4. Nice ring work

Quoted a ball park figure of $5k - $7k (if I remember correctly).

I was actually expecting a number around $10K. But this is still a steep number.

Box cue

Just got this Box Cue from Bob Owen last week. Cue feels as good as it looks, very happy customer. Although if I could afford a Gina Box cue I'd jump at it. Good luck.

Better call back. (I do not think you remember correctly). Good luck,

Hi IPOPPA,

That is a nice cue!

Would I be out of line to inquire on the cost? Any idea what his wait time is from placing order to having cue in hand?

Hi Phil,

What do you think the price should be lower or higher?

How much do you guess this might be?

I am not tryring to be a wiseguy, nor am I trying to speak for Ernie. I spoke to him a number of times recently about a cue I have and one I wanted made. I know he has more work on the 50th cues to wind up. After that I know he wants to cut back but not quit. I know he has several BIG cues to make after these anniversaries for old longtime customers. I wanted a big cue made and he did not want to commit to the order because he just was not positive.

I am pretty sure at this stage of his career, he wants to build challenging cues that utilize his talents and will add to his career legacy. There are only so many hours to work, why not use them to maximize talent, level of work, and PROFIT. I think this makes sense.

I would be suprised to see him making cues player cues or cues under $10K, but this is pure speculation based on his desire to cut back and the reasons I stated. I think Gen 2 Gina's in many cases have been and are greatly undervalued. None of my 9, (2 more since I posted) are for sale.
Good luck,
Phil

to the op.

secondary market ginas may be a possibility for you and also, I would suggest Ed Prewitt as another great cue maker in your neck of the woods who also makes some magnificent box cues.

Please excuse my ignorance,
What's a Box cue?

The best examples of 'box' cues is post # three in this thread.....
...Will Prout's avatar pic....AZ name 'ibuycues'

I suspect Mr Prout is very smart person....but he just can't think outside the box.

Ernie is in same location as stated above. I spoke with Ernie a couple of weeks ago, he told me he isn't taking any new orders at this time. I was disappointed but I understand he is a very busy man who is not getting any younger. I been having a hard time trying to get one of Ernie's cues on the secondary market.
