Where is the "Getting Shape Thread"?

Yes, of course position is the most important thing, not whether you can graze a ball into the pocket from 100 yards. However, this is an aiming forum. There has been some discussion on position play in the straight pool forum, but you'd probably have to do a forum search to find it.

Like Scott Lee always says, you can't control the QB, the only thing you can control is the stick.
A better discussion would be, how can you develop a better feel thru your grip hand to feel the weight of the QB to place it any where you desire.
Personally I use Bert Kinisters 60 minute work out for 9 ball it has helped the feel.

Kinister's workout is really good.
Shot #1...."the most important shot in pool, will build a stroke where there is no stroke".

Thanks for that. I'll look it up and try it.

Semantics.
You can control the stick the stick all you want, but not knowing where to hit the cue ball for position won't do you no good.
Knowing where to hit the ob makes a ton of difference too as you know by watching Bert's It's a Hanger lessons.
So, it's just not controlling your stick.

As if "getting shape" doesn't matter much. Let's all get our aiming systems and pot those balls. After all, who needs shape if we can make them from anywhere.

I bought the VHS tape back in '93.
When you can feel in your in your grip hand that you are rotating the QB 1/2 turn to take take the place of the OB you will on your way to really having fun with this game.

In this thread started by Dennis I think he is assuming that we all have our own aiming system/s.
That being said, you assume the OB will go where you want it to go and the top priority is to send (feel) the QB where you want it to go.
I look at pocket billiards the same way I look at three cushion billiards.

John :)

Just to be clear, we are in agreement that getting good shape is more important than making every shot from everywhere on the table.

So why take the attitude that it has to be one or the other? It should be both.

I was being sarcastic that "getting shape" on the next ball is not discussed in AZB. That I might find a discussion on that somewhere in 14:1 or something. Maybe the guys in snooker talk about it. I'll try to get the moderator to move my OP over there somewhere.

Getting position has been discussed a lot on here. Dr. Dave has a lot on his site about it also.

I was informed that This is the "aiming" header. Where does one go to discuss "getting position"?

I wouldn't worry about moving it. Just post a new thread in the Main Forum and save yourself some headache. What typically happens here is when someone disagrees with your take on position play vs aiming, they'll throw out the comment that this is an aiming forum so take it somewhere else. I was just trying to save you some time.

I know you were being helpful. Maybe it's time to add the header. After all position is just as important as aiming and making balls.
