where on object ball do you look

I also focus on the exact contact point on the OB and automatically seem to have my aim line on the center of the ghost ball.
 
I focus on the exact point where I want the cue ball to make contact. Overall though, I just know what the site picture is supposed to look like taking everything into consideration. It's one of those "in the moment" things.
 
I try to find the exact spot and hit it. Easier said than done for me...still working on compensation for the fact that the balls are round. :frown:

But hey, I'm happy with a 5-6 ball run. Seems that many here aren't happy unless they lay down a 6 pak.

I focus on the aim line. When I focus on the OB, I hit thick on cut shots. Probably because subconsciously my brain shifts the cue stroke from the aim line to the OB.

I will have to experiment focusing on the CP and remembering the CB CP to OB CP line is parallel to the cue stroke aim line.
 
I guess I'm different.

I look down the line I want the CB to roll. The line is chosen so that the contact point collision will send the OB into the pocket, but I don't see the OB unless the line runs through it. If there is no side spin, the line intersects with the OB where the GB would be positioned. With side spin, adjustments are applied.

I have been in a slump recently and started changing to looking from mid object ball, to a spot on cloth and it seemed to help temporarily.

In Coach Lee Brett's video, "The Secret Art of Pool", if you are using English he recommends that you look at the same area on the object ball, as your cue tip is hitting on the cue ball. I've used it and I like it a lot but there is a lot in Coach Lee's video to like. This is marginal information so I don't feel like I am lessening the value of Coach Lee's video. I hope he thinks so as well and that he sells lots of videos because he has produced a lot of NEW INFORMATION that hasn't been available to the general public, especially in this part of the world. Coach Lee comes to us from "across the pond" and is here in America trying to make a go of it.
 
On my final stroke im looking at where i want to hit the CB. When im taking my practice strokes when the tip is close the the CB my eyes are on the CB when i pull back ( ferrule touchhing bridge hand ) my eyes are on the object ball.

That's interesting. Outside or inside? Or both?
 
I look at the area of the object ball that corresponds with the area of the cue ball at which I am applying the cue tip. If hitting low I look low, etc. It seems to help with my hand eye coordination.

I have never been able to see a spot on a solid. Occassionally, when a stripe is vertical just right I will aim in relation to one of the lines. For most shots I just use the eclipse method. It just seems natural to convert the angle to 'shadow the OB this much' measuring from full ball or edge hit whichever is closer. In one of Capelle's books, there is an example of visualizing the cue ball travelling through a tunnel which is about as close as I can describe it. I play much better when I worry less about contact point and more about what happens afterwards.

That is precisely how I aim for side english. The aim point on the OB is the same distance away from the contact point as the tip contact is away from CB center. Of course elevation is the same above or below center ball elevation
if that provides a better perspective. i.e. high on CB, and low on OB. or high on CB and high on OB.

The cue tip actual point of contact on the CB is critical and is not the ferule edge or center.

This allows precision with significant english.
