Hey guys,

I was just wondering what were the top brands today of carom/3 cushion tables and where could I buy them. All I keep getting is Gabriel tables when I search but they are all older tables (not to say they are great) but I was just curious what is used in the pros today?

Thanks for the help.

Verhoeven is another popular table...and there is a brand from (Mexico?) south of the USA that is badass. I'd link it, but on the phone here.

I would be glad to hear about that other popular brand. I have been looking at what seems to be nicer looking tables but I don't know how they play. Does anyone know how the Cavicchi tables play?

Where are you located? That might help.

Truth, thanks.

Here are the Mexico tables I referred to earlier:

Those are some better looking carom tables. I have been looking at Verhoeven and Gabriel tables which seem to be used a lot but I was attempting to find carom tables that had both. Cavicchi tables has a grand match table that they state has been approved to play in tournaments but I don't see any of their tables compared to Verhoeven and Gabriel. The problem is that I didn't want such bland tables. That's why I was asking for different brand and especially Cavicchi in hopes of getting some reviews.

On a side note can anyone tell me what cushions and cloth is normally used on Carom tables? Also is there anything significant about either Verhoeven or Gabriels that would make them the top of the line? For example with american pool tables Diamond cannot be beat when it comes to the K66 cushions. Is there any such patent on these two carom brands that would make them worth buying over a nicer looking table brand such as cavicchi or this mexican brand table?

Thanks for the help

Aren't the better billiards tables heated to reduce humidity and make for a faster roll? Nearly all of the tables at some of the sites look like there's no space for heating.

I think Simonis 760 is the cloth standard. Super fast compared to the 860 that's on pool tables.

I am sure that any real 3c table has heating elements.

Simonis' billiard cloth has a 300 number, it is specific billiard cloth, unlike 760... A pool cloth.

Talk with Mazin Shooni at Amazing Billiards Club in Malden MA (you can google it for his web site...

The carom tables that use 50-60 millimeter slate (2 inch plus thickness) Kleber or Artemis P37 shelf cushions, heated slate, heavy duty frame and leveling system.

Some of the tables that incorporate the specs above are, Verhoeven, Soren Sogaard,
Chevillotte, Gabriel, Willamina, Breton... These tables are all tournament quality.

Some of the second tier tables IMHO, are Sams, Cosmos, Kobil, Hollywood, Olhousen, Old Brunswick Jumbo frame tables like the Kling and the Arcade,

Carom tables for playing three cushions use billiard cloth such as Simonis 300 Rapide, or Granito M. These cloths are much faster and finer than pool table cloth.

The primary reason the tables are heated is to reduce humidity, this allows for more consistent playing conditions. Higher humidity will tend to make a table play "shorter".

On my website 3CushionBilliards.com... at the bottom of the home page... there is an entire section labeled "Essential Resources"

There I have links to all the table manufacturers, cue makers, cloth, balls, chalk, etc that are especially preferred for 3-Cushion Billiards.

It is a resource for investigation and education... and to help in making what are almost always very expensive buying decisions.

Check it out here: 3CushionBilliards.com
