Hi,

Any Recommendation for a cool pool hall in Hong Kong?
I'm not even sure I'll have time for pool but if I do then I would love to check some places.

Thanks.

Thanks Roy!

It looks like I'll be in HK from June 7 - 12
The 7th is probably the only evening that I'll be free for sure... the rest are up to how busy my work will keep me...

I will drop you an email once I'll confirm the dates.

Joes Billiards has a monthly tourney i think. Go to TST branch , pockets are smaller and the place is newly open. Wan Chai branch have more regulars though. They have a free challenger table where anybody can play. Winner stays on. Great place to hang out. The owner Joe if you happen to meet him is a super friendly guy. Love the place myself. I am usually there when i stop over there in HK.

Check them out on Facebook: Think tourney is usually last monday every month.

Carlsberg Player of the Month - June, will be held at Joe's Billiards & Bar, TST on 25th May, Monday.
32 players, 8-Ball knockout. Double elimination, winner gets $2000 and 68 Carlsberg, runner-up gets $600 and 20 Carlsberg. $50 to enter,with a free Carlsberg.
If you are interested, please come to TST venue before 7:30pm. Free practice on 12th floor at 7pm.

Price are in HK dollars of course

“Carlsberg Player of the Month” tournament is held at Joe’s Billiards & Bar, Wan Chai on the first Monday of every month, and at Joe’s Billiards & Bar, TST on the last Monday of every month.
Scheme – 8-Ball Knockout; Double elimination; lag to break.
Maximum 32 players, $50 entry fee; all players will get a free Carlsberg (non- exchangeable). Registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The Winner will get 3/4 of the purse plus HK$800 (contributed by Carlsberg) and 68 bottles of Carlsberg. (don’t worry, you will have a month to finish)
The Runner-Up will get 1/4 of the purse and 20 bottles of Carlsberg.
When there are 32 players, the Winner should get $2,000 and the Runner-Up should get $600.
4 tables at JBB will be spared for the tournament; NO TABLE CHARGES for all players.
Race to one all the way, winner of loser’s bracket must beat winner of winner’s bracket twice in Final to win.

I want to give a BIG THANKS to Roy and Jhun for a great hospitality and a great evening of pool!!!

Not only that they set me up with a cue to shoot with, they also let me try many cues in their great collection.

Hopefully we'll get a couple more sessions before I leave

Skor,

If you have not made it to Joe's then I strongly suggest going. I was there going on two years ago when the ship I was on pulled into Hong Kong. I also was there about 8 months earlier than that. I spent three days there last time and I booked a room at the Kings Hotel so I could do nothing but play pool for two of the days there and that is what I did.

The players, I can honestly say that every time I have gone there I did not have to use a house stick because someone always offered me there's. I never had confrontation or ever heard one while I was there. The bartenders were great, One night he even came out from behind the bar and played me from 2 am to 7am. funny thing is that he got his phone out and Video'd a lot of it. Sorta made an average player feel like a pro if you know what I mean.

I hope you make it there and you experience what I have, I would, and do recommend it to all my Navy friends that look like they are pulling into Hong Kong. Out of Curiosity, I was wondering if you were to bring up in conversation about a U.S Navy guy that played here about a year ago if anyone would actually remember me. Im pretty easy to recognize, balding, heavy set, 6 foot 2 and overall easy guy to talk too. I did stop there about year before the last time and as soon as I walked in last time they all remembered me. I'm guessing they don't get too many Americans hanging out there?

I had a good time at General Snooker Club. They have 6 x 12 snooker tables and some pool tables. Couldn't tell you much about the pool tables, but I seem to recall there are regular snooker tournaments.

Maybe I'll pop by Joe's when the wife and I head back to HK.

i'm gonna have to check these places out when i go back to hong kong in july...not sure if i should bring my cues tho.

i also dont know how to read chinese any more so i might have trouble getting there cuz i wont be able to read the street signs lol.

Anyone coming to Hong Kong could PM me, troyroy78 and kamdaswani to make arrangements in advance. Don't worry about bringing a cue if you are not comfortable bringing one. I think we can accomodate you with what cue you may want to shoot with. :)

Hi Sagi,

It was great meeting with you last night.
I hope you enjoyed playing with the Southwest cue

Feel free to drop us a line when you want to play...... usually one of us is free to sneak in some pool time.

Anyone on AZ coming to Hong Kong, PM blowfish, kamdaswani or myself..... we can show you around the HK pool scene

Sagi, i will be back in Hong Kong on thursday, so maybe we could arrange a meeting on thursday night at joes in Wan Chai?

Roy

will do, i'll be in hong kong between july 9th? to 25th i think. i leave here on the 8th so i think it'll be the 9th when i get there. i'm debating on whether or not i should bring a cue, i wanna use my carmeli or searing but those are staying here for sure. not risking them in luggage. the bacote sneakiest pete i just bought would do nicely tho i think. but then again if u guys are gonna be bringing showmans, sw etc. it would be pointless for me to bring a sneaky lol.

i'll definitely get in touch with u guys a week or so before i get there. i'll probably need detailed directions since i doubt my dad would wanna guide me to a pool hall.
