Where to store/display cues.

For those of you who collect cues, how do you keep them. I can't imagine that you would store all of your collection in something like a dealers case. Do you have custom display cabinets built? Are there ones out there that can be purchased? Of do you really keep them in a dealers case?

Meueller's had a 12-cue dealer's case a while back that could double as a display case/stand for about $150. Very handy.

I custom built a case that's recessed into the wall of my room. Real easy to do, anyone with basic carpentry skills can pull it off. Store 'em upright and screwed together (probably unscrewed if its valued such that you never use it) , but "capture" the top of the cue by putting the tip through an actual hole near the top of the case. IOW, don't put them in any kind of storage where you have to push the shaft through any kind of clip. This will mark it up and put unwanted stress on it every time you take it out or put it back. Good luck!

I like the o neill cases for storage. They make a 6/6 case and a 4/8 case. That way you can keep cues seperate enough to remember whats in what case. In the 6/6 cases are some low- mid range cues and in the 4/8 cases are some higher dollar cues. These cases are fairly inexpensive and arent as heavy or cumbersome as a 12 cue case.

I just use the cheap 2 piece wall racks...the one's with the holes in the part at the top...no clips at the top. The extra shafts I put in cue cases I'm not using. That's a good excuse to start a cue case collection too :)

Display cases...

I currently use a 12x24 dealer case (zippered top) and also an Oneil 12x12 (suitcase) to hold my collection. My father, David, is a wood worker and just completed two 8x16 wall mountable wood display cases with a mirrored back. These will be installed this coming Friday the 20th. I'll get some photos once their installed. He also made a custom wood pool table light for my personal table. Photos of my entire pool room will be posted here and on my website in about 2 weeks.

Good Luck!
