Shaft needs to be a solid piece of wood.

Pls avoid the following:
1. No drilling out its core at the ferrule end to lessen end mass.
2. No coring and inserting rod or graphite in shaft.
3. No technology. Just plain wood.

Recently I played my friend's cue, it has minimal deflection. Was it because of the taper and ferrule? Or wood? The shafts both got only about 3-4 straight grains lines. Its the first time I encounter such shafts that plays that good.

Put the cue together, press the tip on the table and tell me where the shaft bends.
I'm gonna guess it's within 8-10 inches from the tip.
