I was going to suggestt Brek and Run by Runout Media, but you mentioned you were a beginner so I recommend Mika's Mastering Pool.

I also recommned the following books...

Zen Pool (mental and some physical aspects of the game)
Pleasures of Small Motions (mental)
99 Critical Shots (Shot recognition)

I guess since you are a beginner then 99 critcal shots would be the best bet right now... The more you play you will need to start developing that mental side of the game.

A newer "book of shots" is Robert Byrne's "Complete Book of Pool Shots" which has 350 shots. It has accurate diagrams. It also points out several "cheats" that are good to know about whether you plan to profit from them or defend against them.

Thanks guys. This is amazingly useful and I think I will be returning to this thread over the next few months when I need to order new material.

You should go to an instructor to teach you proper fundamentals which you must practice religiously for a few months.

Then I would recommend Bert Kinister's videos. They have the best drills I have ever played (check out the PAT books and drills as well)

Cheers all. Due to Dr Daves and Jerry's pool lesson being tied I have gone with "A pool lesson with Jerry B" as it is significantly cheaper (both had 14 votes)

Once again thanks for the feedback and I will be back to review this thread when it is time for my next purchase!
