which pool star would you like a movie made?

I'd like to see Jenna Jameso.....Oh you said POOL.....My bad.

For the movie ..

to be successful, I feel it would have to be about someone
that there name is recognizable by people outside of Pool.

But, the actors ... Love to see Edward Norton play a part.
How about Johnny Depp in one of his unusual
performances?
How about Lance Hendrickson as an older
player turned backer?
How about Mel Gibson as a backer?

If they really put some good actors in it, it could be really good.

another good story would be steven mizerak ,mike sigil would be very interesting but to tell the truth after reading about john madden and his adventures im not so sure his life wouldnt make a good movie maybe get fred to write it.it was very very interesting and had many possibilities for cameo appearances for some other greats.

I got a call about this forum thread so had to check it out. Maybe a good idea - don't focus on one player but on several of the living players so the younger people playing pool can relate. But I was in a made for tv movie about pool - Kiss Shot. Dennis Franz (NYPD guy), Freeman, and Whoopi. Filmed in CA - and a lot of the pool room regulars were extras --- so I got 2 seconds in front of the camera.

Jersey Red's life has the best elements for a hollywood movie. The pool hustling, sleeping under pool tables, the love interest, trying to support his girl, his quest to win a tournament but always coming second to Lassiter, finally winning the challenge of champion's tournament (or whatever it was), then eventually sucumbing to cancer. Its the kind of thing that hollywood likes to produce. Its would have some of the qualities that cinderella man had. I wouldn't think the movie would end with his death, probably him winning the tournament. I dunno i'd watch it.

A Great Player With A Perfect Personality For Hustling In Pool And Golf. Has Anyone Ever Heard Of Him Working A Day In His Life?
He thought about it once and then came to his senses:)

i cant believe no one has mentioned louie "st. louis louie" roberts! He is by far the most talented shot maker (except maybe efren) that has ever held a cue... think shots you saw in movies like color of money except his were for real and for a lot of cash... some of them woud win a trick shot competition... not to mention the fact that he is the eiptomy of the road player who never really made it... you want a movie with some great pool for the players and some emotion for the hacks? no brainer... louie roberts... just for you that dont know he used to put an object ball on the first diamond by the upper left hand corner pocket frozen and put a cueball on a piece of chalk on the rail by the first diamond by the right hand lower corner pocket and cut the ball into the upper right hand pocket for 100 a shot... when 100 was a lot.... just a little insight

nobody can beat the story about a certain CESAR MORALES coming in for the first time in a strange land.

subsequently the memorable one-on-one duels and dismantling of such pool icons as Parica (King of philippine pool), Strickland (Color of money 1 and 2), Archer (philippine challenge),Busta one-on-one challenge
and of course against Seigel recently...

even the sneak preview would be great

showing "THE SHOT" from the reno open final

I'd have to go with Jean Balukas.

This is a good choice. She had a hell of a career. She fought like hell to play on the men's tour. She took Bonnie Hoffman under her wing for a while in the early 80's. Bonnie was the first person i ever played that could
jump a ball that was close to another ball. And she learned it from Jean.:)

Ewa Mataya Laurance gave up a career as a Swedish model to play professional pool and made it all the way to the Hall of Fame. Now that's quite a story!

I think a movie about a number of the players meeting up at a tournament with flashbacks to turning points in their pasts. Maybe an IPT Event. You'd have Efren, Buddy, Keith, Ewa, Loree Jon, Allison, Gerda etc, lots of great stories to choose from.:)

Cicero Murphy. A gritty movie done in black and white of his early years up to his later years. He could not compete in world events until 1965 because of his race...he won a world title on his first attempt... Plenty of story for a movie with some universal appeal as a story of triumph. Other old time greats would be in the movie and if the cast was well chosen, they could be justly done with a good script while not being the main characters. The movie would not be a civil rights preachy movie, but would simply tell his story, what he went through, and how he fit in with the other legends at that time.

A lot of good answers by others...

Jimmy Reid gets my vote....

Jimmy Reid has lived the life and made the shots when it really counts...he's legendary on and off the felt ;) ... along with a list of titles, there is this acknowledgement as well...
94, At the men's pro tour 'Lexington All Star 9 Ball Championship', the last night before the finals, a large group of his peers had gotten together to vote on who they thought was the best money player. Almost all of the top ranked players over the previous 5 to 25 years were there, Johnny Archer, Francesco Bustamante, Wade Crane, Kim Davenport, Roger Griffis, Buddy Hall, Allen Hopkins, Bob Ogburn, Efren Reyes, Mike Sigel, Earl Strickland, Nick Varner, and C. J. Wiley to name just a few, without a doubt they were a group of the best and most respected players in the world. Turns out that the night before, they had unanimously voted Jimmy Reid to have been the best money player in the world for the previous 25 years, from 69 to 94...
hmmm, wow!

1. Louie Roberts, played by Dennis Quaid
2. Cornbread Red, played by Sean Penn (yeah, he could do the accent)
3. Minnesota Fats, played by John Goodman
4. Jansco brothers, played by Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro
5. Jimmy Spears (AKA Flyboy) played by Matthew McConaughey
6. Richard "Bucktooth" Cook, played by Brad Pitt (hey, so I'm a Bucktooth fan, what can I say) He may have the most interesting life of anyone in pool
7. Scotty Townsend, played by Scotty Townsend
8. Mike Massey, played by Tom Selleck (before the trick shots, he was one of the best road dogs in the country in the 70's)
10. "Bugs" Rucker, played by Denzell Washington
11. Vivien Villareal, played by J-Lo
12. Luther Lassiter, played by James Caan
13. Danny DiLiberto, played by Al Pacino

Hows about...

A movie based on the 5 burroughs of NYC...in the 60's. Its where everyone went, wasnt it? I mean every borrough had a dozen 100 ball runners, the poolrooms were legendary and the characters were endless. I know I may not know other parts of the country but can someone name me a place with more talent per square mile in that era? Maybe a movie based on Johnson City or the Stardust days...those casts would shadow "Who shot Liberty Valance?" !!!

If it had to be about a certain player/players...I would vote for the crew or Diliberto, Sigel, Hubbard & Liscotti on the road or Johnny Ervolino. Honorable mention would the epic battle of Joe V vs. Jimbo, HAHAHAHAHA !!

I still think Earl should be played by Ben Stiller with the makeup he had on in Dodgeball. He can bring the attitude also.

But seriously, a movie about corey deuel (provided he win something big soon) would be a hit especially if matt damon played the part.
