Busty was a monster on the 3.5" pockets in some gambling rooms in Asia. There was an article that was posted on here around Chin Shun Yang's death. Busty took everyone's money on the super tight tables till Chin Shun Yang relieved him of carrying it around. Tables weren't slower in Busty's prime. One thing to remember is that the equipment is changing too. Back in the days with free stroking Efren and Busty, pocket sizes were larger and tables played slower. Sweeping spin allowed you to traverse the table much more easily and the pockets were more forgiving.

p.s., I never thought I'd be arguing for using less spin...lol
JV offered interesting insight into how the tighter tables at the US Open changed positional preferences for players. One example that stood out was players moving away from a standard 3 rail path with high inside for a ball near the corner on the long rail towards a straight draw with maybe a trace of outside to Z across the table back to the middle. So this is def in line with the general observation of less spin being used in certain situation at the pro level and how the equipment has dictated this shift to less spin by changing which CB path is the higher percentage play now.
