I used Loctite super glue gel when i put a white diamond onto my pred BK. After almost 2 years of HARD breaking its still on there.

Maybe I'll give it a shot...I'm breaking HARD, too... I'm getting 2-4 balls on the break hitting them from the side, sending the cue ball straight up about 3 feet off of the table bed with a house cue...with a phenolic it was even more sick, but the tip bailed the f out! :p

LOL

I Used to do all my own cue re-tipping and have never had one pop off when using the gel. I had my local (snooker) cue maker install a white diamond onto my old bungee jump cue. With him not being that clued up about installing extra hard tips he used tweeten's  that thing popped off on the shot i used it.

I've installed 4 or 5 of them and haven't had any pop off (yet). I use DevCon 2-ton epoxy and take a little extra time on surface prep, scoring both sides and making sure they are flush; then I use a rubber band to keep constant pressure on the tip while the epoxy is setting (I try not to touch the tip for at least 12 hours). Works well for me anyways.

kwik weld

I have had good results using the jb kwik-weld on phenolic tips. Strong stuff! I also used it to repair a leaky radiator in my car once!:)

As I've said umpteen times...hard nonleather tips will not stay on a break ferrule. It the side to side movement from a slight miscue that pops them off. They may stay on for a period...but they will pop off. Thats why I make mine with a threaded stem and thread them into an unbreakable ferrule. I give a lifetime warranty.
If you must...the best adhesive to use with the WD tips is Gorilla glue or JB Kwik Weld. Let either sit over night with pressure for best results. Any superglue is the worst to use.

Well, I tried some new Locktite glue made specifically for hard to glue parts and plastics. It has one tube of primer for both parts plus a glue. I followed directions and was told it lasted 10 or 12 breaks. They brought it back and I used 454 as that is what Joe says to use. I was told that it lasted 10 or 12 breaks. They brought it back so I just installed a 6 X 32 stud and drilled and tapped the tip an secured all with JB Kwik Weld. I hope Varney's right and this works. Its much more of a pain than just gluing and trimming but its still not that time consuming especially if it turns out to be a permanent repair.

I also used Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy to secure a White Diamond tip on the ferrule of my old graphite Cuetec. It's held for over two years.

EDIT: :eek:Just realized this thread is over 3 years old! Oh well, might be useful info for somebody.

it happens, though it does raise a question i had in my mind. I use a white diamond tip on my breaker, though they dont pop off as often as they where for that guy, but they do seem to pop off about once a year. anyway, my question is; what tip height is more prone to pop off? a shorter tip or a longer tip? ie: sidewall height.

More tip height makes them more prone to pop off, I cut them down so the side wall is real short. Haven't lost one since I started cutting them down more.

I've installed many White Diamonds and have found that older softer uncapped ferrules tend not to hold . Try a pad and Loctite 454 is fine, tell the customer the pad is necessary . I've never had a problem with capped LBM or Aegis ferrules . :)

I have installed 2 of the white Diamond tips. Both were done this April. No troubles yet. I use mine daily. I scored both tip and ferrules. I used Cyanoacrylate tough tips, from Cue Components. With pressure put on with only rubber bands. One of the ferrules was Aegis II. I don't know what the other material was.
