White Diamond vs Samsara

I really don't understand all the white diamond haters here. White Diamond tips are the
best brake tips I have ever used. I never had a tip pop off. I used lock tite two part epoxy.
Never had a problem with the tip not accepting chalk. No Its not leather. Website says specially
Selected fiber. Safe on cue balls and legal when phenolic is not. Tried Samsara. Wasnt impressed.
Like it way better then phenolic. Down side....they are a ***** to install without a lathe. No reason for me
to use anything else.

I prefer the Samsara tip, because it gives me a little bit more control. I glued alot ofbthem without problems use pattex Ultra Gel for this

imo, these are the best two break tips available.

I have used them both.

my recommendation would be if you are in a league where they do not allow phenolic tips, then get the samsara.

Otherwise, while either tip will provide a great breaking experience, I give the edge to the white diamond. The phenolic tip against the phenolic cue ball is explosive. I don't have any problem with controlling it.

Have been using the same white diamond now for over 3 years without any issue whatsoever.

Joe Blackburn did the install and I let him scuff it for me once a year when I see him at sbe. When he's done scuffing it, it feels like the surface of a very fine emory board. It's a beautiful thing.

best,

I'll start by noting that for years I used a standard LePro on my j/b so I'm a little different from the norm. I liked the consistency and control as opposed to just putting the hardest tip I could find on my j/b. That said, a friend of mine who is a cuemaker convinced me recently to put a White Diamond tip on my cue and give it a try. I can say that it didn't take me long to become a believer. I like how it jumps, and also breaks. It requires careful chalking, but still allows for some control of jumps where many hard tips fail. I have also hit with some friends' j/b cues that have Samsara tips and didn't care for them as much although they're still a nice option. I simply prefer the White Diamond. It's also legal in most tourneys and leagues. Many advertised j/b tips are not (although it's a rule that's rarely enforced). Good luck with your choice.

what happened to the op? hasnt commented since the op. what was the tip that originally came with it? phenolic maybe? I too have a stinger w/wrap and opt'd for the samsara tip when purchased. Its a very solid tip with equal control. Ive not tried the white diamond, so i cant say anything about it, but ill probably try one later this year.
What i have tried though is an icebreaker. Im very pleased with it. The cb seems to come of it a tad faster than with the samsara, and i can still get the control i want if english is applied. My buddy has a stinger/samsara also- less the wrap, he too can tell the difference. Another good thing is it doesnt make that glasscracking sound that all phenolics have when breaking. Any how good luck with the decision and breaks.

im certain white diamonds were designed as jump tips, people just use them to break, i use it and regularly hit 28 on the ios app. I use it bc i like the look of it, samsara or white diamond is really on you, the white has more of a plasticky sound to it similar to a phenolic. also, another post mentioned chalk, white are terrible to hold chalk unless you really pay attention to the apllycation, ill most likely change to a samsara when im done with this one for the break and use the white on my jump cue.

I've used both on my BK2, and I think they're both really great tips. I initially had the Samsara when I ordered it, and it worked great for about 2 years before the leather started chipping away and I had to get it replaced. I ended up getting a white diamond based on recommendation, and it took some getting used to, but to me, they're practically identical. They're both great as playing tips, too, although I lean very slightly toward the samsara if you're thinking about an all-in-one tip.

playing with them?? really??? u must like a hard tip

Exactly why you want to use the white diamond on a jump/break cue. They dont say what fiber is used....trade secret I guess. It is a layered tip. Tried counting them. I come up with 23. Very compressed and permeated with some type of resin.

Some may think there are better break tips out there, and they may be right, but the white diamond is the best for both. I can jump with it and put reverse on the cb. Ok.... well maybe not every time....but I'm getting better. As for chalk, I think it holds the same amount of chalk on it as a samsara does. The white color just bleeds through more then the darker tip does. I just scuff with 80 grit and it holds master chalk just fine.
