I guess your case has a padded interior ?

How about the exterior ? Hard tube, soft, semi hard ?

Seems like the best protection would combine a padded interior with a strong hard tube. I imagine a strong hard tube adds weight.
 
I think Jane Berton makes the GTFO cases, they are pretty nice.
Jake Justice makes some pretty snazzy animal skin cases, too.

However, my favorite case maker is Pelican. They work well to keep my valuables safe.
