Who Cares?

With all the posts I've seen lately, I can understand why some people leave this forum. People have seem to forgotten that this is a game, some people make money with it, a living, and others it's just a hobby. Some people want to become masters, others have different goals: But it's still a game.

This game has a history and a culture that evolves with time. I have absolutely no care in the world for hearing about why such and suchs cue isn't a "real" sneaky Pete. Or how somebody didn't run a rack properly, or other bullshit ideology and billiard dogma.

There's so much clutter and meaningless debate on a site where the goal is to improve your game. Does it matter if my cue is an authentic sneaky? If not will that diminish my ability to play?

I realize I'm making a post parallel to the ones I hate most but I needed this out of my system. I'm done on this forum for a while. Hopefully this forum cleanses itself sometime soon.

To those guys who do try their hardest to actually help others improve, keep doing your thing.

People really enjoy different aspects of the game, They express their opinions and beliefs.

Granted right now a trend is happening where people are complaining about this or that and others are following.

I have been posting on forums since I got my first computer and forums began. I never understood the
"I am not posting here any more"
posts. If one no longer wants to post or even read the forum you just don't go there any more.

Why the need for an announcement. Is it some need to say "I'll show you, I am not posting here anymore". So what. The best is, after saying they are never posting here again. Then they make a dozen more posts arguing the point.

I find the easiest thing to do is not read certain threads if I do not like the direction it is going. Just because it is there does mean you must read it. After a while you can also get an idea of who the trolls are, I believe there is a function that blocks their replies. There are options if you do not want to see certain comments rather than depriving yourself useful information and depending on the characters a certain amount of "entertainment".

It is strange. But then people are strange.
When members post that last post to let everyone know they are leaving, their true motive is to see just how many other members will try to talk them out of going. "Don't go, you meant so much to us.", or, "Why leave now, your posts were just beginning to make sense.", are some of the hoped for responses.
It's disappointing, indeed, when only a small few reply, but never-the-less, the desire to be wanted, needed, and accepted, is almost always the reason.
Sometime back I went on hiatus and posted to the members that I would be heading out. You could count the number of responses I got, on one hand. Pt109, said. "Write if you get work." Cuebuddy, said. "See you in the funnies." Pink, said. "You're a handsome man, Tramp." And Joey, said. "Come on down for some Beignets and coffee."
Hardly what I expected.

I don't want to be talked out of going. I just needed to express my thoughts on what I've seen on AZB lately and I can't stomach being around negativity which I now consider these forums to be. I'm going because I've been seeing more trivial smegma lately.

I care.....

Me too.
I care about posters expressing themselves freely.

I don't appreciate control freaks dictating how I post...it's a free-flow thing.
...as long as I'm not hateful or spiteful or vulgar I feel I have the right to express myself.

And I don't mind the digressions, they can be the spice of a topic, just like conversations
in real life.

And, like my friend JohnnyT, I think 'fancy sneaky pete' is an oxymoron and this appellation
should be taken out and shot at dawn.

However, I am inviting applications for employees who can instruct me how to write and
what to discuss...and how to think....
...successful applicants will be notified by email by about...2048.

In that case, welcome back!

Its ok to care for.....

Its ok to care for....Pool...for your game...for decent equipment.

You just have to remember that you cant fix pool, it is what it is and you make what it is locally. That's about all one can do.

I just block the people that argue and annoy me. If I don't see their crap, then It does not bother me.

That would be 180% Dang I've been putting 200% in it . No wonder I can not win .
I do hustle some only to break the ice with a particular person just to learn about the history through that individuals eyes and learn about anothers life ..
We are not just enthuisiast we are believers !

Hey Tramp,

Does Steamer Cue Sports Ltd. offer an Amazing 30-day Free Trial?

"If you purchase our products and don't take us to trial within 30 days, we're amazed!"

Anyway, the reason Al Gore invented the internet was so people could voice trivial bullshit and ideology. The newspapers wouldn't print our Letters to the Editor drivel and we had to wait too long on hold for the radio call-in shows. Seriously, AZBilliards is about the tamest forum I've ever frequented; compared to other sites, the amount of argument and negativity is miniscule.

I suspect that some of these types of posters hope that in some small way it will cause people to reconsider what is being posted and improve the forum. Good sentiment but unfortunately unlikely to happen until either the mods intervene or a substantial group of respected, credible members attempt to reshape the forum. For example, some commentary on non-sneaky petes is ok to most but the direction the comments takes may turn some away. Likewise, the wrist thread seems destined to go 200+ pages but a large portion of it no longer deals with the original topic and it sometimes turns acrimonious. It is easy to see why some posters might decide to move on and offer explain why.

Who Cares? Your right , pool is only a game. What is a game? a chance to win or lose at something, a challenge to compete at a sport, wether it be checkers, chess. golf or pool. The only people who could be interested in most of the instruction, tips or ideas would be people who are competitive and want to be the best at what ever they do. For most who don't care and are satisfied with however they fair all these articles fall on deaf ears, but for people like myself who care and want to be the best at whatever we do I appreciate every article placed on AZ. These are suggestions, that may or may not help, but there are some that are very interesting and helpful. Please keep up the good work. As as an owner of a retail business years ago, I would enjoy when a salesman would visit looking for an order and I would question him about the industry and get some very interesting tidbits that would bring me up to date and help me make some correct decisions. Remember the best salesman is always the best listener.

Absolutely! We here at Steamer Cue Sports Ltd., put customer satisfaction as our number one priority. If you are not 100% satisfied with any SCSI product just return the item in question. That's all, just return it and we'll forget the whole deal. Where else can you get service like that. From Schon? Jacoby? Gilbert? I think not.

What I like about this forum is that once you get the hang of things, and once other people get to know you, then this isn't a half bad place to hang out.
Most all the folks here are kind, considerate, and have a willingness to help. Others try to hide their insecurities by trying to be funny (ahem), but, generally the mood here is good.
What happens, a lot, is we sometimes run out of things to talk about. After all, there's only so much you can say about tips, LD shafts, and "This is my first day playing pool. How do I hold a cue?" When that happens we move on to more esoteric stuff like name calling, outing, and, "If I ever see you in public I'm going to kick your ass up between your shoulder blades and you'll have to pull up your shirt to shit!" That sort of stuff.
Remember too, it's mostly us boys left. The girls have gone. The pros have gone. Smorg has gone. Like Pogo Possum said. "We have met the enemy, and he is us."
