The 9 ball was put on the spot instead of the 1 ball when the balls were racked and the breaker would break on an angle and hit the rack at a slow speed not usually getting 2 balls past the side pocket, but the 1 ball would go in the side pocket almost every time. If the player had a shot after making the 1 ball they either ran out or played safe. The rule was changed the next year after Corey used this soft break to win the final 11-0 to where at least 3 balls had to pass the side pocket on the break shot. A ball going on the break counted as a ball past the side pocket.Beware_of_Dawg said:They don't allow a soft break anymore? Define "soft" ?

I don't have anything against BB and I'm not here to bash him, but I do find it funny how people here are still so much against the IPT, even the IPT is the biggest payer in Pool in 05, 06, 07 and probably also 08.
BB has reduced mysteriously his prize money many times during the last couple of days at the Opens, for example 07 and this notorious 01.
Still, nobody talks about it, but they certainly do bash IPT how ever they can.
And PS, IPT players DID GET PAID in the end. Even the qualifiers are getting paid now. And, IPT send me the official tax receipt for 2007 (that they have withdrawn and paid to IIRC 30% of the prize moneys owned to me), but the US Open staff didn't do it, even promised.
