I always enjoy Grady in the booth, and as has already been posted, JoeyA was excellent as well.

Now, as for somebody I've never heard commentate before, I really thought Mike Davis was excellent commentating some of the One Pocket. He's got a pleasant/solid voice and demeanor and he consistently made observant, insightful, comments.

And to give a little shout out for the 'younger generation' of pool players, I give an honorable mention to Brandon Shuff....I thought he was pretty good in the booth too.

Some people laugh at Davis's stroke but he's shown to have a ton of heart, ton of game (even at 14.1), and I've met him before and he's a totally cool guy who just seems to let his game do his talking without him resorting to any kind of attitude or bs.

Class act, great player.

Wish I was either lol

I thought JR Calvert was outstanding in the booth.

JoeyA definitely has the voice and insight to do commentary, and IMO he has the ability to work in the booth with anybody.

Larry Price was also excellent IMO.

The best was (and always will be) Grady Mathews. Listening to Grady (on a live free internet stream) it doesn't get any better than that!

GSBT commentators

Mostly I felt fortunate to have had anyone doing the commentary but IMO the smoothest, most professional sounding, and analytical of those I heard was Joey A, Mike Davis, Chris, and Shannon. Grady has, obviously, great insight and experience but at sometime during the telecast he will make a point to mention during his playing career he is under appreciated, has run hundreds of tournaments and paid money out of his pocket to do so and never made as much money as he should have, etc, etc, etc. While all this is most likely true it seems to me to be his way of self promotion with a dose of sour grapes and has little to do with the event being featured. Those things need to be addressed in a total different setting. In no way am I trying to demean or knock Grady because he has been a great player and a valued part of pool folklore. I only want to offer constructive criticism from my viewpoint.
