I did not say a damn thing about the APA in my post.

Why do you feel like you have a cross to bear?

Just be you and let others be who they are. It's that simple. You come off as a person who is angry at the world...whether you are or not.

Maniac

I get the feeling that he is getting a commission from The SBE. I don't think I've ever
seen anyone anywhere push an event as hard as he pushes that one.
I think that one of the issues with pool in America is the reputation that pool has built
over the years. Some greasy back alley game for degenerate gamblers and juvenile
delinquents. Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Football have just as much gambling but it's in the
periphery of the game, no one really talks about it much except that you see pool
players betting on other sports all the time which hasn't helped the image of pool much.
SBC constantly asks what have you done for pool. Most of us play in a league, we
recruit other players, we watch events, we purchase merchandise. I would submit that
his free advertising offer to always play for $200 or $500 among us here is fine. I know
I love to watch a good money match, but as that word gets out that Brian Lips plays
pool for $1000 a game it does more to hurt the game with the general public than he
does to help the game.
It has to be like marketing a brothel, there will always be a market for it among a
certain population, but it is almost always on the verge of going out of business
because it's dirty, and America, for some reason is becoming healthier. You can
always go to a brothel and bang a random worker or pick one from the line up, and
it's gonna be fun, but no one will really talk about it in polite company because it's
dirty, same thing with pool. You can take the rent money and head over to Brian's
place. He's always willing to play for money, but if you can't eat, or have to move to
and live in your car you probably won't talk about how you lost the rent money.
For some people it s fun, for most people it's something they won't admit to in public.
I don't think there's anything wrong with gambling, personally I won't do it. Call me
scared if you must. I prefer the consistency of knowing what's in my pocket and what
I can and can't afford to do. It's just not for me.
I understand that he has open invitation to the Greater Chicago area to play a little with
RJ and friends and RJ and friends are perfectly willing to put up cash, it could turn out
to be a really profitable excursion for SBC, has this happened yet? How much did
SBC take RJ and his friends for?

Because gambling is not pool, and pool is not gambling, to everyone. certainly to some, like you. But as is evident, there are hundreds of thousands of league players who aren't in it for the gambling.

Questioning someones manhood because they won't gamble...its weak. Glad you enjoy it, and apparently live for it. I'm quite comfortable playing a game that I love and not worrying about gambling away money I can't afford, merely to puff up my chest and say look at me, look at my "heart".

I like small sweats, but, nothing wrong with playing for bragging rights if there is some animosity, that is enough to sweat and make ya play (or crumble).

Speaking for myself, when playing friends casually, it's hard to get that same competitive feeling if something isn't on the line, even if it's just table time or a beer.

Gambling isn't pool, horse racing, or poker, and although gambling may not be any of those three things, it is intertwined in the culture in my opinion.

If you talk shit at your local boxing club, someone is going to ask you to get in the ring, sure you can say you don't spar, but, lol, you end up looking like a chump.
