alright, so who? in my opinion, it's a tye between fisher and souquet. remeber, we are not discussing positional style, but who gets their position most of the time, that, is the question.

I would have to say Efren, the man can just move the cueball anywhere he wants. I"ve seen many many of his matches from 8ball to 14.1 he just makes the cueball do everything but talk. I seen him get postion off of banks combo"s you name it. I would also cast a vote for the great Buddy hall he is one of the best postion players ive ever seen

Efren, without question!!! Maybe the old timers that I never saw like Greenleaf and Mosconi were better, but in the mordern era it has to be Efren. Bill Incardona has pointed out that his position is generally the answer to the question "where would you put the ball with ball in hand."

Or the best straight pool player of the modern era, Sigel. It takes very precise shape to run hundreds of balls.

In 9-ball it's gotta be Buddy Hall. The man never chooses a dubious route, his cueball paths are always textbook perfect.

Alot of Efren's greatest shots are the result of bad position plays. He'll get out of line (or snookered), and pull a trick out of his Magician's hat. (for the record I still think Efren's the greatest player ever)

Yes, Efren is one of the few players who can always surprise me and play a shot that stuns me, especially position play shots are sometimes so ingenious, that you realize the excellence only long after the shot. I agree, Buddy Hall is tremendous text book position player, but Efren is the master of "recovery shots" :)
