Yeoowzaa!!

Thanks Debra! I was just contacted by her agent inquiring about my next year's schedule and her interest in playing for Qualifiers.

Does she have someone to escort her to the US to travel and translate for her? This is huge when these players want to travel. I can't express this enough!!

I'm just remembering Jennifer Chen's and Ga Young's situation where I had to *help out* when they were making their first mark and even though I did, I still didn't understand a whole lot and hoped I didn't screw up relations between countries and ambassadors.

On an off note, alcohol wasn't involved. SouthWest Cues were the nuts, my Boti isn't for sale, and my Trans Am is the fave ride of GYK.

Hi Barbara,
I'm a friend of Pan Xiao Ting and actually helped her agent to find a few potential contacts to help her attend the WPBA Qualifiers.

Xiao Ting is the Asian Women's Champion and placed 3rd at the last Women's World Championship.

I recently organized a special TV match between her and Ralf Souquet. Some pictures and info at my website www.shanghaipool.com

Xiao Ting is a very well mannered and dedicated young woman. She has been studying English for a while, but she is still at quite a basic level. Her agent Daniel also seems like an intelligent and sincere guy. His agency is quite professional and well connected in China.

btw: Pan Xiao Ting doesn't seem to have settled on choosing an English name yet. She's tried Tina and Angela but I don't think she likes either of them. Maybe she'll just stick with Xiaoting.

I hope she can play over there soon :)

Barbara

I think she would do very well in any of the qualifiers. Hopefully her agent will also get her in touch with Bonnie so we can see her play down here in Florida. I have heard that she is a great player and a very nice lady.

Thanks Colin! All of these name changes are a bit confusing.

No problem Barbara :)

In Chinese they use the family name first. So Pan is her family name and Xiao Ting is the name her friends would call her. So I refer to her father as Lao Pan meaning Gentleman Pan....like Mr. Pan.

If you ever have any questions or want to contact her feel free to email me at Colin ... at ... shanghaipool.com . Take out the dots and spaces etc. I practice at her pool hall quite regularly.

Angela Pan and Rebecca Zhou have already made their mark in the world of women's pro pool. Are they both likely to become WPBA pros at some point, Colin? Both would be great additions to the tour.

Colin,

I'm working on next year's schedule and hope to have 10 events with my State Championship events multiple Qualifiers. I will email back to her manager that contacted me and will include you as well.

Pan Xiaoting has been wanting to join the WPBA for a few years but only now seems to have the logistical means in place to make in likely soon.

Rebecca Zhou (Zhou Meng Meng) is another great talent as you know. She was last year's World Junior Champ beating Jasmin Oschan quite handily in the final and she also won the Asian Queen Challenge in Taiwan a year or so back where she beat Liu Xinmei (The multiple world champ) in the final. And she is still just ..hmm..maybe 18 y.o. now.

Rebecca has not bad English and helps run a pool club with her parents about 15 minutes walk from Pan Xiaoting's pool club here in Shanghai. I've played with her a dozen times and she is a fearless and natural talent. Loves to play the big aggressive shots. She also aims to join the WPBA, but at the moment I don't know if she has got the support she needs to make it a reality this year.

Anyway, a pic of Rebecca attached for your interest :D

Thanks Barbara,
I'm happy to help out Pan Xiaoting wherever possible. Communication can be a problem for Chinese and so I'll help where I can.
